THOUGHT I HAD CODE FOR FREE GOLD 1 YEAR, BUT HAVE PAID EVERY MONTH

the chat line told me to come here. so I'm here. I bought XBOX One 1TB for christmas, was told that it came with 1 year of gold live. I didn't even know what the heck it was, until the sales man told me and got me all excited about it. it was on the box,
or in the box. my husband set the darn thing up and said he clicked on free month and entered a credit card like it told him. he didn't enter the code... he said he was just following the setup on the tv instructions!. HELP

Free Gold for purchasing a Game Pass

So I just saw this offer, you get a free month of Gold if you purchase a month of Game Pass, problem is I bought my Gold pass for a whole year after Christmas like I do every year and a Game Pass too (every month), so I paid 60€ for a whole year for nothing ?

[/quote]Sorry but this is incorrect. Any Method of Payment for Xbox LIVE will have Tenure added after each year. I've had CC for two years and Pre-Paid for three years, showing the Tenure of 5. Even if a Pre-paid of three months
is used for over a year (or a one month if still available) it will show Tenure.

The Tenure shows after the Year is up and a new year is paid for. Sorry but you must have either started in 2009 or have had a lapse in time that did not count as a Silver Profile. In addition, the first Month Free Xbox LIVE that everyone is given does not
apply to Tenure. So if an Account was created in December 2008 it won't reflect 1 year Tenure until January 2010.

 

If your husband went through the process to get the free month, he did sign up for a monthly subscription (it would have warned him at the time). You would need to cancel the auto-renewal in order to stop that subscription. You would then need to enter your
code for the 12 month subscription in order to receive that subscription.

As Smwutches suggested, if you had received a code for a 12 month subscription to Xbox Live, you would have needed to redeem the code during the trial phase to avoid being charged the monthly rate. Sorry for any confusion, all new Xbox Live subscribers are
offered a Free 1 month trial to experience Xbox Live and can be extended by using either a credit, or debit card as well as PayPal on the console. This is likely the advertisement that you saw on the box.

Since you mentioned the sales associate told you about a year subscription that came with the console though, it's likely this was retailer specific promotion and you'd want to contact them directly to clarify on the purchase. They would be able to offer
more details into what the purchase came with, as well as provide any code that might be missing from the bundle.
