This Purchase Channel Requires a Billing Account - I added a Payment Option

I. Am. Stumped.

I just bought an Xbox Live Gold subscription today, so I could get XCOM Enemy Unknown and July's Games with Gold. I grabbed the Xbox One free games with no problem. I went to grab XCOM Enemy Unknown and received a "This purchase channel requires a billing
account. Please add a valid payment instrument. You will not be charged for a free item." notice.

I added a credit card to my account through Change Payment Options. I went back to the store. I'm still getting the message saying "This purchase channel requires a billing account." This is happening even though I've confirmed on my PC and through the Xbox
One browser that there is a payment instrument on my account.

I do not have an Xbox 360. How do I get this free game?

Avatar Store Not Working

I've added two different payment methods to my Microsoft Account but the Avatar Store keeps saying that I have no payment options available. I keep getting this error:

"This purchase channel requires a billing account. Please add a valid payment instrument. You will not be charged for a free item."

I have my Paypal AND a credit card on my account, I shouldn't be getting this error. Can someone help?

I still get the same this morning. When I try and download Dead Space all I get is

Sorry

Your purchase cannot be completed at this time. Please try again

I actually still own the game but didn't want the hassle of putting the disc in every time I played.

 

To offer additional information - my card is showing up under Payment Options in Payment & Billing, so I know that isn't an issue.

 

Hello i have found a few answers to this as it seems common to alot of people

*Working*

Add a paypal (even if it has no money)

Go to Xbox | Games and Entertainment on All Your Devices and fond the game you want to install

some people have been able to install with $ on their account

change billing address and re-add it

this is all i could find ill keep looking for more info on this but most people have just re-added their card and it has worked

Not sure if you got this working or not, have you tried to reboot your Xbox One by holding the power button on the console for about 5 seconds until it completely shuts off? This may help by clearing the cache (refreshing the system). Please let us know
if you have any updated information, hope you get this resolved quickly!

 

Keep in mind your account region and payment option must be the same you can check at commerce.microsofft.com

If you are using the us region that won't work if your physical region and payment option isn't from there

If they do not match you must use the region migration tool under my account and change my region on this website

 

It is not working for me either tried readding my payment info - Would support please remind me why i am paying for this gold subscription?

Wanted to play boarderlands with a friend but we cant get the game

 

I am getting the exact same message, I also am trying to get borderlands 2 lol. I have a PayPal and debit card account set up.... so god damn annoying. It is the last day to get it...
