Gunslinger, you crystalized my thoughts most eloquently. Interactive marketing, the key to MS's new business model for their interactive entertainment console and phone. The emphasis on gaming is being strategically subdued in favor of the new and Kinect
improved entertaintement lline of thinking but most importantly to them is advertisement revenue.



My question is this. Will people who pay for gold memberships support this scheme long term? And more importantly will people buy Xbox Next that will be designed around this new marketing concept?

My personal guess? From responses in every forum and site I have seen this reported on, no. People want to know why Sony and Nintendo offer free online gaming and app usage (netflix and Hulu) with little ad interference if any, while Microsoft charges $60
US for a service with extensive ads. Why can't MS offer the same seeing as we pay for the service.

On top of that, the video discloses that before Kinect even launched, MS was working on interactive advertising. The typical developer would be looking for gaming functions and providing not only a strong launch line up and follow through games to maintain
the momentum of a new and significant hardware launch.

What MS did is develop Kinect and Interactive marketing parallel, while the gaming application is apparently an afterthought, or secondary use.

People now see this. It puts MS's true intentions in front of every current and potential consumer.

We gamers are a fickle and vocal crowd, we have to admit that. Look at forums, message boards, etc...etc.... To have this spectre will most definitely hurt not only in the immediate short term, but long term when they launch a new console. We will remember.
That creates a long, uphill battle, that can not be reversed now. The genie is out of the bottle.

MS has some serious damage control in front of them now, first and foremost, they have to justify the fees for a service with so many ads. After this news, I honestly don't think they can.

Okay? I log into my Xbox and play the game right away or go to Netflix... I never look at the other tiles.

Honestly, I don't see Sony pushing Move the way MS will try to push Kinect. I think they know Move is a secondary add-on controller at best. Even though it's all motion control, Move is more akin to the Wii controller than Kinect. I'm guessing Sony has looked
at what happened with the Wii and Nintendo in general and plan from there. Wii sold fantastically, but fizzled out quickly as well. Now, Nintendo is gearing up to be the first of the big three to exit this generation and move forward without their motion controller
in tow. If MS looks too far down the road (to when the little kids who love Kinect will be consumers), they are making a big mistake. In the world of gaming, MS could be Atari by then if they alienate their current base. But back to the Move... Sony hasn't
shown any signs that they will be "pushing" Move beyond an optional, add-on level.

Did you see them attempt to have it on nba 2k12 it has to start some were first they will try sports and then it will be tagged on everything yes its optional but some would argue that the effort put adding it could be put on something else
