  1. Third Party Vendor resold my 12 month gold membership

    Hi Guys,

I'm hoping some can provide some guidance, I purchased a 12 month gold membership through a "reputable" third party vendor, cdkeys.com in June last year, my current membership only expires this month so when I wanted to redeem the code I had bought, I found
that cdkeys had resold my code. I have proof of purchase, I made contact with cdkeys but was referred to Microsoft.

Because the purchase was not through Microsoft directly, there wasn't much assistance offered, I was however issued with a Microsoft support reference number to show cdkeys that I had spoken to Microsoft, but that cdkeys would need to either provide a new
code, or reimburse my money. cdkeys have in turn ignored all communications from me.

What code of conduct are third party vendors held too, and how do I move forward?

    :)

Sorry to say nobody from the Microsoft team are able to do anything as it's a third person party. I would suggest buying from main places like your local Gamestop/Game or buying from Microsoft

First of all, cdkeys.com is NOT a reputable seller. They are a marketplace provider similar to eBay or Amazon Marketplace, where complete strangers can offer their codes to sell to others.

So it might be, that you bought your code from a scammer, or maybe the seller checked if you redeemed the code, and since you took some time to redeem it, sold it again.

Unfortunately, Microsoft can't help in any way, besides the chat record you have that you did not redeem the code for you.

With that you need to contact the cdkeys support, and have them deal with the issue.

The next time you buy a code, make sure to redeem it right away. Codes you redeem "stack", so you don't lose any subscription time.

For example, Live Gold memberships can be stacked up to 2 years at least. So if you have 6 months left on your Gold membership, simply redeem your 12 month code, and you will have 18 months of gold.

NEVER wait to redeem your Gold codes until your gold is running out!

That way you prevent scammers from re-selling the code again.

Unfortunately, the only one to help you with that issue is the cdkeys support. If they are unable to help you, I'd recommend to NOT make ANY purchases from key sellers again.

cdkeys, G4A, Kinguin and similar key sellers often appear in this forum with complaints from customers.

Please buy from really reputable sellers like Amazon (the actual Amazon, not Amazon Marketplace sellers), or local shops that sell you actual code cards where you have to rub off a protective film from the code to make it visible.

That way you can be sure that you get an unused code that only you can redeem.

    I found this:

    LINKS TO THIRD PARTY SITES

The Xbox.com Web Site may contain links to or feeds from other Web Sites ("Linked Sites"). The Linked Sites are not under the control of Microsoft and Microsoft is not responsible for the contents of any Linked Site, including without
limitation any link contained in a Linked Site, or any changes or updates to a Linked Site or any information transmitted on a Linked Site. Microsoft is providing these links to you only as a convenience, and the inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement
by Microsoft of the site or any association with its operators.

Any dealings with third parties (including advertisers) included within or available via a link from the Xbox.com Web Site or participation in promotions, including the delivery of and the payment for goods and services, and any other
terms, conditions, warranties or representations associated with such dealings or promotions, are solely between you and the advertiser or other third party. Microsoft shall not be responsible or liable for any part of any such dealings or promotions.

Only thing I could find for Third Party Vendors. Unfortunately you'll have to deal with CDKeys on the matter. Next time, you may want to use the code swiftly after purchase. I don't know what their stance on codes sold but not used are. Something you
may want to ask them for future reference. Good Luck.

As mentioned the only people able to help you would be the people that sold the code to you. A lot of accounts were banned about a year or two ago for using CD key codes since a lot were bought fraudulently. The fact this is going on should show you how
sketchy that place is. I would stick to the Microsoft Store from now on.

Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing microsoft can do about codes if you didn't buy it directly from microsoft.

How did you pay for the code, PayPal, Credit/debit card?, You could contact the company you used to pay for the item and dispute the transaction if cd keys themselves wont reply to you.
