They screwed up with the new update.

Before I start my rage induced explanation of what I'm going through since the last update, please read and respond if one or all of this has happened to you. They'll be less worried about fixing it people only mention it here and there, but if anyone is
having the same issue and we make a point to notify them now it could get fixed in the next day or two.

Microsoft screwed up. And I don't mean that in the way when someone would drop an xbox for instance. They screwed up in the way where its more like they took xbox and beat a concrete golem to death. All thanks to the newest update which seemed to be a interface
update but is obviously more. That, or they just slapped code together and thought "This might work"

I'm not a huge fan of the new interface but that's easy enough to grow accustom to. The issue is the countless problems that have surface due to the new interface update.

The series of events started last night. Tried using Netflix, but it would not open. It didn't even get an error message stating "Something went wrong, unable to launch please try again.

So I thought what ever, tried Crunchy roll and the same thing happened. Tried Youtube and the same thing happened. Tried literally every app on my console that streams video or music and the same thing happened. So I restarted the console. It took 10 minutes
to boot up but everything started working, at least, until this morning.

I should note that my settings aren't on power saving mode, but instant on. I wake up around 9:00 AM EST and turned my console on, it showed the Xbox logo for 10 minutes then went to a black screen. I thought maybe it was on the wrong TV port so I check
HDMI 1 2 3 (Its connected to 2) and nothing but a black screen. I leave the room and come back after 8 minutes and it looked how it was supposed to. However I couldn't use the home button interface. (The box that shows recently played games, friends, friends
playing games, messages, new message, the tab to go to my apps and game etc you get the point) Then I go to boot up a game, after 10 minutes the game slows, and seems to lag to the point where its unplayable AND the game was in a Single player mode which you
do not need an internet connection for. So I close it out, quite process then try to reload the game and get an error "Something happened, game took to long to respond." This happened to six other game I own and one was a disc. I then went to my setting, and
clicked on network settings but nothing would happen. It would act as if I clicked on it but the process that initiates from the click was non existent. This happened to ever sub setting you can find in the settings menu.

At this point I'm annoyed. I power cycle the Xbox One (By pressing the button on the console itself until it shuts down) and wait five minutes, check the power cord to make sure it turned yellow then orange, putting my ear to the console to make sure nothing
is running at all. Then I grabbed a pen a pad and wrote down everything, and it went exactly like this.

Turned on Xbox one @ 11:00 AM EST, stayed on the booting up screen with the XBOX logo until 11:12 AM EST , showed a black screen for 11:20 AM EST and turned all the way on.

Xbox One froze @ 12:25 PM EST, Power cycles again, waited for the console to stop running and the power strip light to change. Unplugged EVERYTHING, reconnected everything except for the Ethernet cable that runs from my Xbox to my router to see if that would
make a difference. @ 12:40 PM EST. Turned Xbox One on @ 12:55 PM EST and it showed the Xbox Logo appear on the screen until 1:06 PM EST, Black Screen started @ 1:17 PM EST and remained there until I cut the power by flipping a switch on the Power Strip its
    plugged into @ 1:45 PM ES.T

My xbox has been off ever since 1:45 and I'm about to try turning it back on now @ 2:08 PM EST. I'll be making a ticket for Xbox Support afterwards, and if they say there's nothing they can do (Ya know since my Xbox One cant get passed the Black Screen that
appears after the 10 minute or so XBOX Logo powering up screen) I will be posting this pretty much ever where, sharing and re sharing. This type of thing shouldn't happen. Xbox One is no longer a Video Game Console, its now marketed as an Entertainment system
and damn expensive one at that. Maybe if companies were more concerned about introducing these sorts of updates in house where its programmed then closed Alpha for the company employees this type of thing wouldn't happen, but due dates seem to be more important.

    :)

  4. They screwed up with the new update.

One thread I read a guy had problem with external usb drives no longer were recognized after system update.

Come to think of the same thing for you - could it be releated to different brands/models of external drives?

Thinking that one brand might not be recognized at all, and other brands may have various read/write issues or similar???

So troubleshooting might be to temporarily disconnect those and see how basic console behaves.

"They screwed up in the way where its more like they took xbox and beat a concrete golem to death."

Bad analogy, brah! For one thing, if such a thing as a "concrete golem" existed, would it *ever* have drawn breath? Furthermore, a concrete construct wouldn't exactly require bringing back to life, would it?

"I power cycle the Xbox One and wait five minutes, check the power cord to make sure it turned yellow then orange, putting my ear to the console to make sure nothing is running at all."

I'm no tech-xpert, but this here speaks to the very thing that *may* suggest what the problem is. At no point during your rage-induced discourse do you mention the *age* of your console. If it's a first-generation machine (which seems to be the case, as
the current model doesn't ship with a power brick), then in all probability it's about to expire. Might have nothing to do with the update and everything to do with your components wearing out!

Finally, you're threatening to make your complaint viral, make a big song and dance about corporate failures, but expecting the world at large to 'identify' with an UNIDENTIFIED USER? Seriously, you couldn't even use your gamertag to authenticate your experience?
