    The Xbox Game Bar recorder doesn't work, which triggers the overlay to close immediately...


    After updating my Intel graphics driver via the manufacturer site, I noticed that something had changed with the Xbox Game bar application, failing to capture (without any error notification) every time I press the 'record' button in the Overlay GUI.

    Also, I had noticed that the check box to remember a game is remained checked, and seems unable to be unchecked (because when unchecking, this closes the overlay as it does when attempting to record).

    Just wondering if anyone could help out in resolving this particular issue? I have tried seeking support on other forums, but I don't think anything relates to this, or Internet. This bug is fairly recent, as it dates just before I upgraded my graphics card.

    * I have already tried uninstalling any Xbox apps related to it (in Powershell when necessary), and re-downloading them again from the Microsoft store.

    I updated and reset the apps and it still didn't work. Forgot to mention that I was talking about Nvidia In-Game Overlay. Xbox Game Bar works perfectly fine, it's just the Nvidia In-Game Overlay that doesn't work properly.

    We understand that you are having trouble recording Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself. I'll be happy to assist you with this.



    To record Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself, you need to enable the "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar" option in the Game Bar settings. Here are the steps to do so:



    1. Press the Windows key + G to open the Game Bar.

    2. Click on the Settings icon (gear icon) on the Game Bar.

    3. In the Game Bar settings, make sure that the "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar" option is turned on.

    4. Also, make sure that the "Record audio when I record a game" option is turned on if you want to record audio along with your gameplay.

    5. Once you have enabled these settings, you can start recording your gameplay by pressing the Windows key + Alt + R.



    Please note that not all games support Game Bar overlay recording. If you are having trouble recording Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself, it could be due to the game not supporting this feature. You can check the game's display settings to see if there are any options related to Game Bar overlay recording.

    [PC] Xbox Game bar push to talk not working in background

    I discovered this exact same issue last night, between State of Decay 2 and the Xbox Game Bar.

    My workaround was to PTT transmit with the game-bar open, then close the bar overlay to return to gameplay - the problem this created was that I was always transmitting, which does not help in your scenario.
