    The same unresolved issue. Xbox App just launches a black screen.


    Just like all the other posts on the Internet with the same common sense solutions, that sometimes happen to work but NEVER solve the problem. In fact majority of the posts don't even get a working solution, and the app will inevitably start working one
    day and you just leave it, to come back a few weeks later find your thread closed with no resolution and just give up all together.

    Here is all the things that I have done, some temporarily fix it, but it's not the actions that do it, it seems to be coincidental because it doesn't work consistently.

    - Terminated app and launched again

    - Reset the app in App Settings

    - Repair app in App Settings

    - Restarted PC

    - Shut down pc for 6+ hours and came back to it

    - Uninstalled the App and reinstalled it again ( 5x now)

    - Reinstalled windows

    Out of maybe 15-17 attempts of launching the app to play a game, it has opened and let me interact with it twice. Every other time it's just a black screen. The one time it did open was on a random boot up one morning and the second was after I woke it up from
    sleep.

    Edit: Trying to reinstall again, and another issue I forgot about. When I have this issue and reinstall, the installer also breaks, and will just randomly work at some point, usually a week or so later. You click Install, it freezes and nothing happens, I have
    left it for several hours like this, nothing ever happens.

    Plausibly related to a loss of connection or something like that during download and install of a game through the app

    VUDU app stop working

    Same for me too. Vudu just launches to a black screen. Uninstall and reinstall does nothing. Restarted console and that did nothing either. Not sure when this started since i havent launched the app in a few weeks.

    Hulu does this as well, but restarting console fixes the issue. This hulu issue started a month or two ago.

    Xbox Gamepass for PC not launching games

    Unfortunately, no. What happens is that when I click to run Sea of Thieves it will sit at the launch screen where it just says "Sea of Thieves" against a black backdrop for a solid minute before it just crashes. The same happens with all the other games
    where they don't launch at all so it seems to be an issue with the Xbox App.

    Funny update:

    The app is still acting up but I clicked to run Dead Cells about five minutes ago and it just now randomly launched. Definitely something wrong with the app but like I mentioned, I have uninstalled and repaired the app and still nothing. I even used Dead
    Cells as a test by uninstalling and repairing that game but still it all has issues with launching.

    . . . same here when the app is launched the screen becomes black and after a view seconds goes back to the xbox one home screen. i tried uninstalling, rebooting console, and reinstalling wireless display (preview) app and that did not resolve the issue.
    Really hope someone from product group support takes notice of this issue and resolves it as w/o this you have to go buy hardware to enable miracasting phone and tablet screens onto console connected big screen.

    I have tried all 3 solutions now and when I launch the xbox app I am still stuck with just the app having the black screen and the xbox logo in the middle pulsing.

    I'm experiencing the same issue. Most of the troubleshooting appears to be for when this happens after launching an app or game DVD Blu ray etc. For me it loads the main green screen, then turns into a black screen, then after lots of waiting says the same
    thing. I have tried the reset etc. Are there other options?
