The Outer Worlds - Saves Lost After First-Time Log-In

I have had the same issue when I have cross-linked accounts and found out I had to restart with one or the other.

What you will need to do is log out completely with Microsoft, all devices and all accounts. Below is from an KB article about having trouble logging in but is pertinent for your issue.

Method 4: Sign out of all Microsoft online services

You may be signed in to another Microsoft online service, and this may be preventing you from signing out. If this is the case, sign out of all Microsoft online services. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/logout.srf, and then sign out (if you aren't already signed out).
2. Go to https://login.live.com/logout.srf, and then sign out (if you aren't already signed out).

I suggest that you also clear out browser caches and cookies. If you want to take the time just clear out just the Microsoft and Xbox cookies. If you want additional guidance there please ask and I will be happy to provide the details.

There are also a few more caches and resets that can be done, but I think logging you out completely will do the trick.

I found this and it complements what I have done.

If you want to delete data in all the games then follow the steps provided below.

a) Click Start.

b) Click All Programs

c) Now click System Tools

d) Select Disk Cleanup.

e) Now, tick Game Statistics Files and click OK.

Thanks for the reply. I should have posted a notice here but i resolved it and it was simpler than that. All I had to do was to find the savegames in the game directory, find the folder for the guest account and transfer the savegames to the newly-created
player account.

Who knew a solution from the 1990s would still work?

In a pinch, putting the computer offline/on airplane mode also defaulted it to the guest account.

The documentation does not seem match the functionally - Every time you log into Outer worlds on a machine - it has a "gaming UI" pop-up screen that says "Syncing Data, should be done soon" - this is the save games syncing.

Haven't had chance to check out Outer Worlds and I am terrified of the ocean so I think I'll save Subnautica for another time
