  1. The latest update might have bricked my external hard drive

On Friday when I was gaming, I was prompt to do the update so I did and just went to bed since it was really late. Come the next day, my hard drive wasn’t being picked up by the Xbox so I thought it was a software issue. Fast forward to today, I decided to see if I can plug it into my PC and see what has happened. I was given an error message of failed port for the device so I tried many others and still get the same error. I go to the device manager and it reads device descriptor failed or something like that. So basically I screwed since I have no idea on how to fix it. Maybe it’s by chance, maybe not but my external was working up until the forced update.

External hard drive no longer recognised..

I am in the Preview Program, have the latest update, and have had no problems with my Xbox recognising the external hard drive.

    Installation issue

If you recently updated your console with the February 2020 update, it has bricked external hard drives world wide and Xbox Support refuses to acknowledge that the last update is causing an issue with external hard drives. No games will download, install,
or launch from external drives since the update. They've known about this for close to a month.

    Cannot manage external hard drive

Just an update, I believe it might be the external hard drive having issues. I emailed Seagate support for help as well.

    External drive

Hello, Randle my name is oskayra I am an independent advisor and player like you I hope I can help solve your problem today

There are a few reasons why you might be getting an error message saying that you can't play games from your external hard drive. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check the external hard drive format: Make sure the external hard drive is formatted as NTFS or exFAT. These are the two formats that are compatible with Xbox consoles. If the hard drive is formatted as a different format, such as FAT32, you will need to reformat it.

    2. Check the external hard drive connection: Make sure the external hard drive is properly connected to your Xbox console. The cable should be securely plugged into both the hard drive and the console's USB port. Try using a different USB port if possible.

    3. Check the external hard drive power supply: If your external hard drive requires an external power adapter, make sure it is plugged in and working properly.

    4. Update your Xbox console: Make sure your Xbox console is running the latest software updates. Outdated software can sometimes cause compatibility issues with external hard drives.

    5. Restart your Xbox console: A simple restart can often fix temporary glitches that might be preventing your Xbox console from recognizing your external hard drive.

    6. Format the external hard drive: If none of the above steps work, you may need to format the external hard drive. This will erase all of the data on the drive, so make sure you back up any important files first.

    Here are some additional tips:

Try using a different external hard drive to see if the problem is with the hard drive itself.
If you are using a USB hub, try connecting the external hard drive directly to your Xbox console.
If you are still having problems, contact Xbox support for further assistance.
    I hope this helps!

If you need anything else, do not hesitate to contact us again. Best Regards Oskayra

So I have low data at my house but my friends is way faster is there any way I could take my Seagate xbox hhd hard drive to my friends and plug my hard drive into his and update my games like that ?

And I just thought it might work cause if he has a external hard drive to and he moved his game to his hard drive and unplugged his and I plugged mine in and the game from my drive onto his Xbox and he updated it and then move the game to the hard drive I should have the updated game when I go to plug it into my Xbox console
