  1. The Disc to Digital Results for my 258 combined XB1/XBSX Physical games

So I like most of you other Insiders, I decided to check every Xbox One and Xbox Series X game I own to see which ones qualify for Disc to Digital. And between both consoles, I have 258 physical games.

Like all other people here, all of my Sega, Bandai Namco, Atlus, or Square Enix games didn't work, about half of my Ubisoft games didn't work, and 1 or 2 Bethesda games didn't work either. I had a couple of odd one-offs as well. This is the result of my 24 hours of going thru the Disc to Digital Process.

I will preface this with saying that I sort my XBSX and my XB1 games separately. I also go by the box art. So if it says "Xbox" on the spine, I put it as XBSX. If it says "Xbox One" on the spine, I put it as Xbox One.

So, going with that, here is what I have:

So of my 258 games, 51 of them were not eligible. I say 207 games that DO work is a pretty decent number. I have sone other things to mention:

    Observations

If you already own a game Digitally, and you double dip with a physical version, it still let's you digitize the game.

The icon will NOT show the disc to digital symbol if you already had the game digitally. However, since you have the digital license already prior to digitizing the game, it basically just stays the same as a normal digital license. It's as if you didnt even unlock the game via disc to digital despite it still saying unlocked.

I digitally and physically own The King of Fighters XV, Transformers: Battlegrounds, Sunset Overdrive, and Xcom 2. All of them redeemed fine, but none have the Disc to Digital icon. Many delisted games seem to still work. I only double dipped on KOF XV and Transformers: Battlegrounds digitally because I wanted their DLC and both were cheaper to get the digital complete editions over just buying the DLC I needed.

The delisted games I own that still unlocked are:

    - Anthem

    - Battleborn

    - Dead Alliance

    - Immortal: Unchained

    - Overwatch

    - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan

    - Toy Soldiers: War Chest

    - Transformers: Battlegrounds

The delisted game that didn't unlock:

    - Jump Force (but also a Bandai Namco game)

    - Project Spark

    - Titanfall

    Notes on Specific Titles

    - Anthem worked despite being unplayable

    - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag worked for me. But I tend to get AC games when they hit $20-30. So I have a later printing.

    - Assassin's Chreed Chronicles comes up as 3 separate icons for China/India/Russia. All 3 have the disc to Digital Icon

    - Battleborn worked despite being unplayable

    - Bioshock: The Collection shows up as 3 icons, one for each game. However, I needed to us Disc 1 to unlock Bioshock 1 & 2, and I needed to use Disc 2 to unlock Bioshock Infinite

    - Commandos 2 & Praetorians HD Remaster Double Pack does show 2 separate icons in your library when redeemed

    - Crackdown 3 comes up as 2 icons: One for Campaign and one for Multiplayer

    - Halo Infinite shows the "Halo Infinite Multiplayer" icon, unsure if that changes if I install the game

    - Halo Infinite also doesn't show the Disc to Digital icon, but it might when installed

    - The Dead Alliance icon says multiplayer

    - Dead Island Definitive Edition has 3 icons for Dead Island, Dead Island Riptide, and Dead Island Retro Revenge. All 3 have the Disc to Digital icon

    - Dead or Alive 5: Last Round shows up as Core Fighters. I assume that changes when installed

    - Dead or Alive 6 also shows up as Core Fighters. I assume that changes when installed

    - Don't Starve Mega Pack has 2 icons. One for Don't Starve Giant Edition and one for Don't Starve Together Console Edition

    - Earthfall has an icon change that says "Earthfall Invasion." I assume that's due to an update to the game.

    - Journey to the Savage Planet has 2 icons: One for "Journey to the Savage Planet" and one for "Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition."

    - Lego Marvel Collection has 3 icons: Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, Lego Marvel's Avengers. I also did not need to use Disc 2 as it literally said Disc 2 is not required to unlock the games via Disc to Digital

    - Madden 16 worked, but Madden 15 was ineligible

    - Metro Exodus worked, but Metro Redux was ineligible. So I couldn't unlock Metro Redux 2033 or Metro Last Light Redux

    - Middle-Earth Shadow of War worked, but my base copy of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was ineligible

    - Overwatch worked, but it just brings the modern Overwatch icon and says I need to upgrade.

    - Red Dead Redemption 2 did not need Disc 2

    - Resident Evil Origins Collection made icons for Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero. Both have the disc to digital symbol.

    - Saints Row IV Re-Elected/Gat Out of Hell made icons for both games. Both have the disc to digital symbol.

    - The Walking Dead Telltale Collection just shows one icon for the whole game

    - Wolfenstein: The Old Blood worked, but Wolfenstein: The New Order did not

    - Worms: Battlegrounds/Worms W.M.D. shows up as 2 separate icons

The process took me pretty much all day on Saturday. But I did have to dig through my game room closet to get some of my Collector's Editions out to check those discs. So that took a bit of time.

Overall I am very happy with the process. I hope the companies not part of it join up in the future. If you have questions feel free to ask me and I will help as best I can.

    Backwards compatibility and new account.

Thanks Zbox. Yeah the 360 games are all disks. Just started doing digital with XB1 but may go back to buying physical disc for that reason

Xbox series X and LG C2 problems.

Thanks for your input, I had given up on my LG C2 to XBSX experience, been using an M32U monitor to play my XBSX, bought the repeater and the Fiber Optic Cable. Will post back on the results. My XBSX is the original one from 2020.

SUGGESTION: Random disc check for installed games

If you don't want to swap discs then go digital. Simple. I'm 50/50 physical and digital these days because there are games which aren't keepers.

I often think the solution for installed games not requiring a disc could have been to implement a microchip or metallic strip somewhere near the very inner of the disc, the XB1 could read the chip/strip if the disc was within a certain distance of the console.
Say 5-10 feet. It would mean you could play the game if you owned it without having to insert it into the XB1. Simple!

    xbox one drm

um....I was looking forward to the benefits of DRM allowing disc-less retail gaming before family share was talked about. The difference between digital vs physical is not "games at my fingertips vs playing offline and selling my games".

    -

What excited me was I was going to get more benefits in purchasing games (games I don't trade in, and pretty much only play with my Xbox 36 online). Now instead of combining the benefits of buying a physical copy [to keep], and having a digital game, I have
to choose one set of benefits over another.

Hey MS! How can we Pre Order games we want to Download???

If Microsoft seriously wants to move to total digital game downloads..theyll offer digital cheaper than physical disc...if they release the Xbox One and price of digital is the same as physical disc.

That ought to tell tell you ALOT!

Because if I have to pay $60.00 for digital or physical...im taking a disc everytime!!!!!
