    Hi Xbox/Microsoft Community and, hopefully, Microsoft-Xbox Staff,

    I bought Xbox Gold Live for 1 year on my xbox account today. I was able to successfully redeem the code, receive Xbox Gold Live Membership and play Fortnite and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, both on the Xbox One. However, I tried to play Battlefield 1 Multiplayer
    and an error said that Xbox Live was not working and so I was not able to play multiplayer. Therefore I decided to switch to my Xbox 360 and I tried to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 but they both gave me the error message
    "The current account is not allowed to play on Xbox Live". I am extremely confused right now and I have a few questions:

    1. What does that error message mean?

    2. How can this be fixed?

    3. Will I can an extension to my Xbox Live membership due to this delay to my access to Xbox Live?

    When I try to play on Xbox live with my new account I get a message saying 'the current profile is not allowed I play on Xbox live'

    Try removing the account from the console and then re adding it.

    please be sure to check if all settings for online safety and privacy are allowing online game play (and user created content) at
    http://account.xbox.com/settings

    If this is happening on a child account then the parental account will need to set these settings.

    If settings are changed be sure to sign out and in again on the console to make sure these settings will be active.

    If the settings are already set up correctly or there is not change, then I suggest contacting Xbox Support via Phone, Twitter (@XboxSupport) or Microsoft Support Chat at

    They can take a more indepth look into the issue and your account details to try and determine the cause
