The controller thinks that its plugged in when im using batteries, and starts randomly...

I was trying to play with my controller plugged in to the wall but randomly the controller wasn't getting anymore power, so i decided to get some batteries after putting them in the controller didn't want to connect anymore so i tried plugging it in the console, it connected but then it just started vibrating and getting hot, i got the batteries out and let it cool down. After some time i try turning my controller on and it was ok for a bit, until it started vibrating after almost a minute. I tried turning off my console by holding the power button for 10 seconds and unplugging it from the power and plugging it back after a minute. Now my controller just turns on for a couple of seconds while vibrating and then just turns off. I really don't know what else to do.

    :)

Hi Netrean, my name is Jhon, and will be a pleasure help you

Connect your controller via a USB cable directly to a Windows 10 computer and try updating the driver again by following the instructions in the link below:

    https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/controller/update-xbox-wireless-controller

then pair the controller with your console again using both pairing buttons to see if the issue is resolved that way.

If the problem persists, you can apply the warranty for your controller, which is 90 days if it is not an Elite Series 2 controller through the following link:

    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/controller/controller-warranty

You just have to follow the steps provided by the page, which is basically looking for the control's serial number, entering it at the end of the page and following the steps that will be indicated.

If your warranty is expired, you should take your controller to a trusted technician in your area for inspection and repair. This is because Xbox does not support controllers that are out of warranty; It is only responsible for replacing those that do have it.

My Xbox One is getting sick

The random controller off might be low batteries. There is no indicator of battery life, and I found that when they started to die they just turned off the controller randomly.

Xbox One Controller no buttons, thumbsticks or triggers etc work

To add a bit more detail to it, I think the controller doesnt actually realise that its on even when its plugged in and has new batteries etc

    Controller

    Hiya!!

If the controller is powering down after just a short period, usually its the batteries. Normal batteries will not give you a long life of usage. I would recommend using the Microsoft plug and play kit which will give you a rechargeable battery and a cord
that you plug into your console and then your controller when the controller is not in use so that your battery will always be ready for game play! :)

    Happy Gaming!!
