The Console Scalping Problem

So. As the title says, this has become a very large issue i wish you guys would address. I have saved up for months to get a Series X at launch, but low and behold i cant. Every pre order within a hundred miles in every direction of where i live, amazon,
ebay, best buy, and gamestop are all completely sold out. But there are consoles to buy that are being sold for $2,000 USD by the guy that bought up all the pre orders. So... Why can i not buy a console directly from microsoft? This would literally solve this
issue.

Edit: This has been an issue with all consoles since Covid started. I wish there was something these companies could do legally to go after the people doing this. They are screwing up sales for every company. Not only that but they are keeping others from
obtaining a product they want by putting a massive price tag up. Its pathetic and sad. Something needs to be done.

Also im glad retailers have done things to minimize scalping like the limited amount any given household can purchase. It shows they understand whats going on and want to do what they can to stop it.

I wholeheartedly agree. But these scalpers are ising the pandemic and the lower numbers to their advantage. Meaning they dont have to buy as many to monopolize the supply in any given area....

its not just scalpers though, the fact were in a global epidemic has resulted in a number of factors, shipments of parts is slower, numbers of units made in advance of the launch day will be a lot lower, more people purchasing devices due to being locked
down. lack of devices on launch days is always the case scalpers don't help but even they won't get that many as a lot of stores reduced pre orders to one per household.

take the launch of the 360, when pre orders went live for that a friend of mine ordered one and didnt get his till 3 months later, it wasnt so bad for the xbox one as microsoft fluffed the launch and pre orders were down in number.

2. companies actually like this happening. it generates hype and value for their product. even though they aren't getting a cut of the hiked up price, it means that people will be more then happy to pay their asking price for some time.

I would go with you on this, April seems a long time to wait, the 360 didn't restock as quickly as you're hoping the One will, but MS should have learnt from that.
