The ads below the dashboard are all out of place

Thanks Guys for the replies, I actually got a solution on how to hide ads for people who don't want to see them but to keep them for people who want them...

Simply, just make a new place adding all the ads on it, and hiding them from the dashboard, this way no body will ever care for seeing them except the ones who want to check out for new games, and stuff..

The ADs dont stop you from doing anything else you did before on the old dashboard, the old dashboard also had ads....lets not blow this out of all proportion

Has anyone seen the IGN preview video? Your dashboard themes are still half blocked by a grey blob and you can't make them out with the massive center placed ads.

[/quote]Oh I quite agree, in fact I'd say the new dashboard as less advertisement space, but the difference is in how these ads are placed.

On the Blades the adverts were small and unobtrusive. The NXE defaulted to the advert/spotlight channel but a quick flick up and all console functions were there completely ad free, play offline and the console would default to My Xbox.

The new Metro design changes all that though. The ads for Microsoft's and their partners products are specifically placed to be the first thing you see when on the dashboard and unlike the NXE are unavoidable, even when offline you get a large advert inviting
you to connect to Live.

Now I'm sure the 'well just set your console to automatically start the disc' argument will come up but the point is for me that I use my 360 far more as a media extender than as a gaming console these days, so that is no solution to my eyes.

What I dislike about the Metro dashboard is that it has been designed around selling things to us rather than accessing the features of the console.
