I had the same connection issue on the Technicolor TC7200U provided by UPC and solved it:

Go on the admin section of the gateway and do this in order:

1. Disable Upnp

2. Set firewall to Medium at maximum (High blocks all traffic for the xbox)

3. Enable Upnp again

No need to reboot neither the TC7200.U or the xbox. Test and connect to XBOX Live

any updates?... i just swapped out my old modem and have this one now.

Make sure you have enabled DHCP and UPNP on your router and do a power cycle, next make sure you then go through the setup network process (automatically) do not assign a IP manually.

That should resolve the issue if your not getting an IP.
