System Update Stopped - Status Code

While Updating my Xbox 360 I received the following

System Update Stopped

Can't read the update from your storage device. Please reinsert it to continue the update.

If this problem persists. visit www.xbox.com/support

Status Code: L: 4488-4497-2780 - 0F00 - C000 - 0034

i can’t get out of this screen. I have tried:

1. Power off.

2. Remove HDD.

3. Remove and reinsert game.

4. Remove and inset other game that worked yesterday.

5. Power off and on again.

6. Steps above in varying sequences.

7. Pressing various button’s on both remote and controller.

8. /support no help.

No matter what i tri i can’t escape the “System update stopped” screen.

Hello Redkat71,

Seems either your hard drive may have some hardware issue OR an interruption may have happened during the system update causing the OS not to function properly.

There are options like try hooking up USB thumb drive to the xbox (formatted of course using a computer and a tutorial video to assist you to file it properly)

OR

connecting your hard drive up to your computer using an adapter can help resolve the issue if this was the case and the hardware isn't failing.

Hey Red Kathryn,

360 is actually a difficult device to own now since Xbox keeps pulling support from it. Have you tried finding an alternate HDD? That is the only thing i can think of that might work.

It keeps doing the same thing.. I dont have a hard drive.

Hi, could you try this please. Power the console off, press and hold in the sync button on the console and power the console on keeping the sync button held in. Does that help any ?

Remove any external storage devices and try the console, remove the xbox hard drive if you have one, does the console boot up ok ? Refit the hard drive and try the console again.
