System music player no longer finds my PC?

For the past few years I've been streaming music from my PC to my Xbox 360 with no issues;via my Zune software. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed, minus the fact I'm no longer able to find my PC on my Xbox. BUT, my PC will find my Xbox. I'm so confused...Help,
    please?

    :)

  2. xbox music win8 app wont stream to xbox 360

Yes all music is in default music folder and sharing is enabled..my Zune music shows up with the Xbox logo next to the PC in the list of pcs in the system music player. My Xbox shows without the Xbox music logo but it takes a long time to show the music
    and it won't play

    Rocksmith Bass Expansion pack

I downloaded this pack and can't find it anywhere? I looked on the system music and video player, on the game itself. No luck. Any ideas?

Hey there, Dein! I'm sorry to see that your Xbox seems to not be finding your PC now! Hopefully we can get this fully sorted out!

One of the main things that I have found users run into is their anti-virus is causing a block somewhere. Depending on what you have, I suggest temporarily shutting it off to see if that will help. If it doesn't, uninstalling it completely should resolve
    this.

If you continue running into issues after that, what we can do is see if we can set up Windows Media Center Extender on your Xbox and see what error we run into with that. I suggest doing this only if you have Windows 7 or Vista, as you need to purchase
    it on Windows 8.

If you have Windows 7 or Vista, you will want to start by
setting up your Xbox 360 as a Windows Media Center extender
. Once you have done that, if you run into any errors, you will want to launch up the Event Viewer. Hit your Start Menu on your task bar and typing into your Search bar "Event Viewer" and selecting
the program that appears once you do. In there, you will want to click on
Applications and Services Logs > Media Center
. Once that loads, you will see the most recent event level generally as an
error or warning. Please post back what the
    Event ID
    is for that event.

If you are on Windows 8, we can see what our next steps will be. Post back with what OS you are on and let us know if you are able to get anything from the Event Viewer. We'll get to to the bottom of this! System music player no longer finds my PC? :D

Hi'ya, Misses! I use Windows 8.1, sorry for the little info. :c

  6. Thanks for the speedy confirmation, Dein! Having 8.1 is fine, it just makes things a bit difficult to troubleshoot.

Do you have an antivirus installed on your computer? We can start there. System music player no longer finds my PC? :)

I have Panda and Kaspersky, both of which have never interfered. I even turned them both off and it won't do anything. :/

Thanks for the information, Dein! Kaspersky has been well known to interfere with streaming from your PC to any Xbox console, in my experience. If turning it off didn't help, my suggestion is to uninstall it completely to see if that troubleshooting step
    works.

If it doesn't, you are more than welcome to reinstall and we can continue looking at other factors. However, I ask that we do this first because it helps rule out the antivirus as a culprit.

Panda I don't have too much experience with, so let's remove one thing at a time. If removing Kaspersky doesn't work, I suggest removing Panda and seeing if that resolves this issue.

Post back after you've been able to try that out and we'll see what our next steps are! System music player no longer finds my PC? :)

Kaspersky is gone (even though it was a few months out of date) now, and still nothing. I just disabled Panda, still nothing, and tried uninstalling it...Still nothing. :/

I appreciate the help! I'm really hoping I can get to the bottom of this. I have no issues whatsoever, except when it comes to my PC and Xbox together. Like I said, my PC found my Xbox, but my Xbox won't find it. It'll find my mom's computer sometimes, but
it won't connect to my Zune software. The only recent thing I've done is erase my profile (not the items) and redownload it due to an error signing in.

  10. Same! I really appreciate you testing out those things for me. It does help narrow things down a lot.

Since your PC can find your Xbox, it seems like something might be in between the Xbox and PC that has changed. How do you have both devices connected to your router? Are they both wired or wireless, or is one wired and one wireless? If they are the latter,
please try to make them both connected the same way.

In the meantime, checking to see if your router has an update for its firmware would be a smart move, too. Post back with all these, and we'll see where that lands us! System music player no longer finds my PC? :)

Both have been wireless for several months now...As far as I can tell, my router is up to date, as well! This is such a spontaneous annoyance. I really appreciate the help...Still nothing! System music player no longer finds my PC? :(

  12. Really weird! System music player no longer finds my PC? :(

Alright, let's try this. If you have Windows Media Player, open that up. Click the drop down for Stream, then select Turn on media streaming.... From there, make sure you Turn on media sharing and then have
"Local Network" showing up on the devices drop down. You should see your Xbox 360 set to "Allowed". Once you've done that, make sure that the
Automatically allow devices to play my media... option is checked in Windows Media Player under the Stream option. That should allow streaming for other devices, but you can also make sure your HomeGroup settings are good by
    looking at the
    Media Streaming with Windows 7
page (just the HomeGroup stuff, it's all the same thing in Windows 8; the rest I kinda go over here).

Next, let's do a search on your PC for "View local services". This will give you the Services page. We're going to make sure we have a few things up and running. All of these you will right-click, hit Properties, and then
make sure the Startup type is set to Automatic. Then be sure to Start them if they are not running, and hit OK.

    • Background Intelligent Transfer Service
    • Network List Service
    • Plug and Play
    • Quality Windows Audio Video Experience
    • Remote Desktop Services
    • SSDP Discovery
    • Windows Media Player Network Sharing
Internet Connection Sharing should be set to Manual for the Startup type and stopped. If it isn't set up like this, it will cause issues with your
    Plug and Play service.

After all that, give it a try! Crossing my fingers here for you, as this is a lot of work, but I am hoping something in there wasn't set right and reset itself for some odd reason. :3

System music player no longer finds my PC?

Sorry for the late reply!! I was able to find my Windows media player on my Xbox; BUT it wouldn't load any artists or anything. I've never used WMP on my Xbox, just Zune. Which still won't be found. :/

I did all of the above, and Quality Windows Audio Video Experience wasn't running, so I started it. But still nothing. Thank you again so much. Worse comes to worst; I'll plug in my Zune to my Xbox...But for some reason it won't load all my content!

  14. I do apologize for any confusion! Windows Media Player is on your PC, not on your Xbox. The app on your console that you should be using is System Music Player if you are not using the Media Center Extender.

Hopefully that helps clear up my instructions above!
