    Syncing issues with Starfield when playing via Cloud


    I am trying to play Starfield via the cloud. I have a game pass ultimate account and play on a PC. Every time I launch Starfield a requestor appears saying "Your other Xbox console is taking a long time to sync to the cloud" and asks if I want to try again or synced last saved data. The last saved data is hours out of date and the try again option does nothing.

    I contacted tech support yesterday and the person clearly did not understand the issue I am having, and suggested it was a problem with my computer. I tried explaining to them that I am playing via cloud, but they didn't understand. I asked to be transferred to the next level of support (tier two) and they seemingly set that process in motion, telling me I would receive a call back. Microsoft did not call me back. I tried contacting them today and was told I have exceeded my call back requests.

    **** Microsoft?

    This is not limited to me. My son also has a game pass ultimate account and plays via the cloud and he is getting the same sync issue. I understand if Xbox is overwhelmed and cannot meet demand, but I would like to be told by Xbox and not get the technical support run around. Technical issues I can understand, but crappy technical support and treating the customer like garbage I cannot accept.

    one thing that I've been doing since I started for the third time (haven't had the same problem yet), don't delete saves so when you quit the game the saves go to the cloud.

    So I think I might have found a workaround. On some other forum (dunno where anymore) I read that someone reduced their amount of saves to a smaller amount.
    Yesterday I didn't reduce the amount of saves but I started overwriting the oldest saves I had to try and test if that would change the amount of progress I lost. So I had the game crash and had this same syncing screen as I had the day before. This time I waited a night and a workday and now it seems I lost only around an hour of gameplay. While I had replayed the previous 10 hours I lost from the day before.
    So now I have removed a lot of old saves and I'll play till this happens again.

    This theory might have something to do with the size of the save files being synced. The more, the longer it takes to sync, therefore it might not have synced all saves when the game crashes, but when you have less saves it might do.

    It's all just a theory and I will experiment further. I'll keep posting if I find out more.

    PS: I just wanted to say that I find it completely unacceptable for a released game to have this big gamebreaking bug. But that's more on Bethesda's side I think.

    The issue is ONGOING.

    In late September (sometime after sept. 20th) I gave up and just played from the synced game. The synced thing stopped and I was able to (re)play the game without this weird phantom syncing issue. Cue Oscar Issac because somehow the syncing issue has returned. It hasn't forced me to play an old save (yet), but every time I go to play the "checking for synced saves" (or whatever it says) comes up and then it presents me with two different sets of saves, both from the 15th of October. Canceling this let's me play with my current save as if the sync saved data was never raised. This is EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER.

    So Microsoft, am I ****? Is this issue going to keep teleporting me backwards in time? Quite frankly, Starfield isn't worth the effort if this is going to keep happening.

    BTW: Previous support requests from Microsoft pushed me to Bethesda. I've have an open ticket I started on the September 22nd that is still "waiting on agent". In other words, Bethesda hasn't even looked at it.

    Almost same issue here. Play only on PC with Game Pass, don't have Xbox. It keeps freezing on "Syncing data" screen when I start the game.
