Sync Purchases on iPad with Microsoft Account

I have Minecraft on my son's ipad and I purchased a couple of things for him. Recently, I created a kid's account on Xbox live so he can play with some of his friends. However, the issue is that I cannot sync the purchases already on his iPad with his Microsoft account even when prompted with the option.

Is there a step that I am missing, is it permission based or a glitch. Figured it would be straight forward, click the "Save to Microsoft Account" and good to go... not the case.

Any assistance greatly apricated.

The purchases you made, were on the Microsoft Store's website?

If they were, the content there is for the Minecraft windows 10 edition, Monsters349 if your son is playing on his iPad, he will not be able to access this contents, since on the iPad, the version of the game is different, is the pocket edition. :/

You can access these from any new device, provided you are logged in to the same account. For help with missing purchases, or any Xbox Live account support, please contact Xbox Support.

If you do not have an Xbox Live account associated with your game, then your Marketplace purchases will be tied to the device you used for the purchase. Please be aware, uninstalling the game will permanently delete any purchased coins and content purchased this way. For further billing and installation support, contact your device's app store.
