Switching video outputs - Xbox Series S

I have an Xbox Series S and like playing games both using a controller and KB+Mouse. When playing with a keyboard, I prefer using my monitor at my desk.

Does switching between my 4k TV and 1080p monitor cause any damage to the xbox? Is there a specific way it should be done? Should it not be done at all?

    :)

Hi Lucaslf22, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

No, it will not cause any damage just make sure to carefully unplug or plug in the HDMI cable on your console if ever you're also changing it.

Why can't I play starfiled on a Xbox one X if the system is 4k compatible?

The ability to output 4K video is only a small part of the puzzle

The CPu and GPU of series consoles is far more powerful than any Xbox One. The Series S, while technically less powerful than the one x, has a far far more powerful cpu, the same one in the Series X

    xbox series s isn’t displaying 120hz at 1440p or 1080p

Hello, I'm Felipe and I'm an independent Community Expert, and I'll do my best to help you.

There are a few reasons why your Xbox Series S might not be displaying a 120Hz refresh rate, even though it's enabled in the settings. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the HDMI cable: Make sure the HDMI cable you are using to connect your Xbox Series S to the monitor is compatible with the 1440p resolution and supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Update the firmware of your monitor: Check to see if there is a firmware update available for your monitor. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

Check the video output settings on your Xbox Series S: Go to "Settings" > "Display and sound" > "Video output" and make sure the output resolution is set to 1440p and the refresh rate is set to 120Hz.

Make sure the game supports 120Hz: Some games may not support a refresh rate higher than 60Hz. Check the game's specifications to see if it supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Restart your Xbox Series S: Sometimes simply restarting the console can resolve display issues.

If none of these steps help, you may need to contact the manufacturer of your monitor for further assistance.

Xbox switches on but no video output on TV.

    Hello Christopher.
My name is Ezequiel. I'm an Independent Consultant and I'm happy to help you today. I am very sorry that you are having problems. Please
    what model is your xbox?

I'll give you a procedure for you to do on your console.

If there is a disc in the console, eject it.
On your console, press and hold the Xbox  button for 10 seconds to turn it off.
Press and hold the Xbox  button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear a beep immediately and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash before the second beep. Don't let go until you hear the second beep or see the console boot into low-resolution mode (the Xbox boot screen will appear slightly pixelated).
Note If you have an Xbox Series S or Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, you will need to press and hold both the Xbox  button and the Pair button as your console does not have an Eject button.
