Switch child over to own account under family

My child started using Xbox One using my own (parent) microsoft login. Now I want him to be under a child account I have created in "Family". He has points etc from some games under my account. he does not want to loose. How do I switch his game records/gamertag
profile etc over to his new set up child account??

    :)

    Parental permission

Are you possibly still under a family as a child?

There are two ways to be considered a child.

    1. DOB on account when it was originally setup. This will require the account to be setup in a family as a child account that would have an adult to control its options.

    2. If it was originally setup as a child in a family with a child account and it reaches the age of majority (18 in most countries) and is still under a family as a child account then it would still be considered a child account. To fix this you would just
need to sign in with the adult account at account.microsoft.com/family and remove yourself from the family.

This will put you into your own family as an adult AS LONG as your DOB when your account was originally setup is truly over the age of majority. If it is not then you would not be able to do anything on your account till you are added back to a family as
    a child account.

Can't allow an exception for a game on a child account.

I'm wondering if there's something that tells Live that the account is a child other than just being listed as a child account in a family? When not in the family under my account, the child account seems to have full privilege to set it it's own family,
set content restrictions, etc. The DOB is set so the child is clearly under 18. Is there something else that the child account could be missing?

    Child account becoming Adult account

There is two things that determines if an account is a child account

    1. DOB when the account was originally setup.

    2. If the account is in a Family as a child account.

Now if the DOB when the account was originally setup is under 18 by law it is required to be in a family as a child account.

Although an adult account can also be in a family as a child account and be considered as having a child account.

It does not automatically move over to an adult account once the DOB hits its 18th birthday.

Once it hits its 18th birthday you would have to sign into account.microsoft.com/family and remove yourself from the family at which point you will be put into your own family as an adult.

Why can’t I use the custom gamerpic option?

There is two ways that MS sees an account as a child account.

    1. The DOB when the account was originally setup. (which is set in stone and can not be changed) If the DOB is under 18 it will ALWAYS have to be in a family as a child account till it reaches its 18th birthday.

    2. If the account is in a family as a child account. (even if the DOB is over 18 if it is still in a family as a child MS will see it as a child)

    With that being said

When you say it was set as an adult account since then do you mean in the privacy settings on your xbox?

This is not going to change it to an adult account. even if the DOB is over 18

So if the DOB is over 18 this is what you need to do.

Sign in at account.microsoft.com/family with the parent account and remove yourself from the family this will then put you into your own family as an adult.

Keep in mind if you do this and the DOB when your account was originally setup is still under 18 you will NOT be ABLE to do ANYTHING on your account till you are added to an account as a child account.

In the family, my account is certainly set as an adult. And my DOB was not changed in the privacy settings. I’m talking about the DOB at account.Microsoft.com.
