Swap email on X Box Accounts for a Child Account to set restrictions

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. Unfortunately, once an Xbox account is attached to a Microsoft account, there is no way to move it or transfer it to a different account.

We understand that his gamertag is under your email and Microsoft account. Is your email a Microsoft domain (@outlook/hotmail/live...)? Do you use this Microsoft account for anything (logging into computers, phone, Microsoft office)?

For your first question, removing a Microsoft domain email from a Microsoft account would delete the email completely. That is what that message is in regards to.

Thank you so much for a quick reply and that helps to answer it, even if it isn't what I was hoping for.

My email is a Hotmail account and I use it for my One Drive and to log into my laptop and home desktop (not for work purposes). It is also held as a number of important contacts (School, Sports clubs, etc.). I am also the parent on the family account. There
is another parent on there though.

I suppose the simple answer is to do the steps to swap it and be happy that I will need to do some work beforehand to back up items and inform parties of the "change of address".

However, how will that affect the Game Account and can I change it to my child's email if I erase mine in the process?

Unfortunately it's not currently possible to change an adult account to a child account If you wish your son to have a child account then you'd need to set him up a new child account with the relevant settings. You may be able to restrict some of the
features on a parent account but not the full suite that child accounts can restrict.

Unfortunately it's by design to not allow child account to have certain abilities. Once a date of birth has been entered, you will have to wait for it to naturally turn to an adult account. The reason a check box is a bad idea, is that all child accounts
would abuse such settings to circumvent any parental restrictions that the responsible adults in charge of the family account sets.

Have you taken a look at your "online Safety & Privacy" settings? If you are under a family account and you are younger you may have access restrictions.
