    Hello,

    I had an issue logging into one of my Microsoft/Xbox accounts on December 24th and was prompted with a message saying that my account has been locked. So I followed the instructions and filled out the information found on the form here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/concern/AccountReinstatement. I received an email from 'Microsoft Customer Support' a couple hours ago, but the format of the email looks very 'sketchy' and similar to a phishing email. Also, the information that I am expected to provide includes my name, birth date, zip code, phone number, IP address, billing information, and other sensitive information. Also, the position of the person 'helping' me out is an 'Advanced Capabilities Advocate Support Advocate' (that is not a typo by the way).

    Also, the email I received was sent from the @css.one.microsoft.com domain, but it had various letters, numbers, and period punctuation marks before the '@'. An example of what I received looked like this *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***'.

    Is this standard for emails sent by Microsoft Customer Support? I want to make sure because I don't know if this is an official email or a scam email. Also, I would like to unlock my Microsoft account as soon as possible. Thank you to whoever responds.

    No, it isn’t. That looks and smells like phishing and you should ignore it completely.

    For anyone who experiences this issue in future: I just got a reply from Xbox support advising me that the email is legit.
