Suspended until I buy 1 year gold subscription.

I've always paid for my gold subscription, but likely around the time of my prior subscriptions end I've been prevented from getting gold through anything less than a year. It says I have a past due balance and when I try and get a different subscription
I am not allowed because it insists I also pay $70 to this past due balance for a year of gold. Why is it behaving as if I owe money despite me having never borrowed anything? Is there any semi-simple way of fixing this on the xbox one?

When you purchase gold through Xbox it turns on auto-renewal. If you don't turn it off and your subscriptions renews but they are unable to charge you, they suspend your account until you pay for that new subscription that started.

I would agree with the previous two posts about this. Auto-renew was turned on and never turned off so you, in fact, do owe for the balance. Once it's paid you can choose one that you want to go with.
