Support from Xbox team to force game publishers to add the ability to disable Crossplay...

I would like to add that for some games support Crossplay between PC and Xbox but do not support team play in Crossplay. You can check about this in the game forums.

Unfortunately disabling crossplay in system options results in not being able to find any games during matchmaking, forced me to turn it back on in Warzone last year. So this isn't viable for anyone.

Since I got a PS5 after turning off crossplay in the game I haven't had these issues, there's always games to be found.

On top of this people on reddit are claiming doing this for Halo doesn't actually disable crossplay there's still PC gamers in lobbies.

The main concern is implementing the option in game. And to add insult to injury both Warzone and Battlefield have this option implemented in game but it's greyed out on the xbox version of the game. The option is there but we've been blocked from accessing it.

Crossplay should be optional if you happen to have friends who play on PC. Console players who have been asking for crossplay were asking for Xbox vs PS crossplay.

Xbox Live is only used for authentication

Activision runs every aspect of their game servers, including whether crossplay is allowed

So you'll have to ask them why you can't disable crossplay

Microsoft has no ability, and is in fact legally prohibited from having anything to do with their business until if and when the merger is complete. They do not dictate how third parties run their servers.

I understand your frustration with Modern Warfare forced crossplay on xbox. I believe eventually they will add an option to disable crossplay, this really isn't a question anyone knows the answer to, the best you could do is stay up to date with the game.
If you come across a PC cheater, just leave the match. I'm sorry for your inconvenience, but also completely understand due to past experiences myself. I hope you have a wonderful day!
