Suggestions for Backwards Compatibility

This is mostly just to get Microsoft to step it up a bit. Currently, Xbox is the only platform that is offering consumers the option of playing up to 3 gens of Xbox titles. So it pains me to see that Classic Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 aren’t compatible, especially when nearly every Halo game from 360 is. And I’m not talking about the Master Chief Collection.

It pains me because currently, there are only 2 ways to play the original combat evolved, and one way to play original Halo 2. Original Xbox and Xbox 360. Combat Evolved was removed from the Xbox marketplace years ago, but I still own it and can play it. The same can’t be said of Halo 2. And while both games are available to play in the Master Chief Collection, this is less than ideal, thanks to the porting process both games experienced. The technical problems of the gearbox port are still present in CE Anniversary. And Halo 2 seems to have some noticeable lighting and shadows problems at a minimum.

Aside from those 2 games, I also think Microsoft needs to create a controller remapping feature, at least in regards to original Xbox games. The dated design of The Duke’s black and white buttons can be felt in a few old titles because modern xbox controllers lock them to the bumpers. I noticed this when playing Combat Evolved on my 360 recently. And the in game oresets cant solve it since they also werent designed with bumpers in mind. It’d be great to have the ability to remap the buttons on old games to create more comfortable and customizable options. And considering the backwards compatibilty feature is basically just emulation anyway, this is a sorely missing function that even a certain competitor platform had 9 years ago.
