Suggestion: Unable to play digital content offline(in light of yesterday's outtage.)

Due to an outtage of Xbox live yesterday(2/22/2016)I discovered something disheartening. I had heard that you guys made the Xbox one console capable of playing games while offline as opposed to your initial standpoint pre-launch Of needing to always be online.
While offline yesterday I wasn't able to access any of my digitallly bought titles. It's as if I don't own the game! In 20 years what if I wanna play these titles and I can't even access them and play them as I please?

Needless to say I tried everything. I stopped game sharing my digital titles and reset my account to my home console. I fiddled with putting the console in offline mode trying to access my content. Some games wouldn't even launch then close as I got seconds
into a menu. Allow me to make a suggestion. I believe we all would like a resolution to this massive oversight of not being able to play our digital games offline.

If Xbox live services are not available (due to discontinuation of servIce, unavailability of internet, or an outtage), it would be good to be able to play digitally purchased content(such as games) while offline

Granted the user is signed in to the respective purchasers account.

Make it possible to play games offline - whether your physical home device is set to your home console or not - too. (Especially if we purchased the content.)

Please we don't want as customers to be mislead by this sort of practice. You know gamers are a fairly vocal community and they won't hesitate to jump ship if you continue to leave this issue unresolved. This simply should not be an issue as I feel very
betrayed being unable to play digitally purchased games offline on my xbox one despite your company's rhetoric. Especially when the Xbox 360 had no problem doing so due to the fact we didn't have such strict DRM policies in every console generation previous
to this.

Apple Jack is back in Apple Jack 2....

What a shame they still can't be played offline. That looks like a fun little title but if I can't play offline then when things like yesterday's LIVE outage happens I'm stuck unable to play.

Need help with offline use of purchased content

Davo: So I'm assuming you are unable to play this content offline, but can you specify what exactly is happening when you try to play this content offline. Are you getting an error message or code? Are you now completely unable to reconnect to LIVE?

Hey there.

It is definitely possible to play games offline... you just have to tell your console you want to do so.

Step 1) Ensure your console is set as your "Home Xbox" - digital titles can only be played offline on your home console.

Step 2) Put your console in offline mode. To do this, go to Settings > All Settings > Network > Network Settings > Go Offline.

Step 3) Play your games.

Step 4) When Xbox Live is back up, go to Settings > All Settings > Network > Network Settings > Go Online to have your console reconnect to the network.

I used this last night during the outage to play Ori and the Blind Forest, so it's definitely possible.

You can play offline. The issue is not being able to play online content offline. If you have physical disks then you can play that way. But most of us are buying digital content now and this needs to be resolved.

It's not at all the case that digital copies have to be online to be played.

On the console they were first downloaded to (or later the one to which you did a licence transfer), the content will be playable offline - by any profile.

It is only when you are on another console that the purchasing account has to be online when playing the content, to verify ownership.

If you have done a licence transfer, the issue is most likely what HomegrownSilky has suggested and you should follow his suggested remedy. Hopefully that will work for you.
