Suggestion to Remove Chinese Book Title Marks (《》) from Game Titles

Dear Xbox Localization Team,

I would like to provide a suggestion regarding the use of Chinese punctuation in localized game titles on the Xbox platform, applicable to both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

Currently, many Chinese titles include the book title marks 《》 around game names. While this may appear standard in some contexts, it introduces several issues on the Xbox platform:

Inappropriate for Title Use According to Chinese Norms: In Chinese writing, the use of 《》 is generally reserved for referencing the name of a work within a sentence—for example, when mentioning a game in an article or conversation. It is not standard to include these marks within the name of the work itself, especially when the title is displayed independently. This usage goes against both Simplified and Traditional Chinese norms.

Alphabetical Search and Sorting Issues: Titles containing 《》 may not be properly sorted or located when users browse or search alphabetically, leading to a confusing and inconsistent experience.

Visual Inconsistency: Some titles include book title marks while others do not, resulting in a lack of uniformity in the user interface.

Inappropriate Use on Non-Chinese Titles: In some cases, even titles written in English are wrapped with Chinese book title marks in the Simplified Chinese interface. For example, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey is displayed as 《Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey》, which is jarring and inconsistent from a localization perspective. Such usage is not only unnecessary but also stylistically awkward.

To improve the overall experience for Chinese-speaking users, I respectfully suggest:

Avoiding the use of 《》 in all future Chinese localized game titles

Removing existing book title marks from current Simplified and Traditional Chinese titles

This change will better align Xbox UI with modern Chinese language practices, improve usability, and provide a more polished, globally consistent interface.

Nice idea, but the emulator and the games each need to be tuned to each other. Which is why they are relaxing titles a few at a time. If you go on the PC and download any emulator, you find the same issues where some games will only work with some emulators
and there are loads of other patches and things you need to load along side.

Think of emulation as translating English to Chinese then back again. Then every game as a different book.
