Suggestion For New Gamertag 12 Character Limit

Alright, it makes complete sense why they had to reduce the character limit to 12 for non-unique gamertags to fit the suffix, but I feel as though if you can still create a unique gamertag with 13, 14, or 15 characters you should be allowed to do so.

It doesn't seem like something that would be that hard to explain, and I don't see the sense in removing the ability if the standard allotment is 15 characters anyway. I mean, forcing users to get out their 360's just to make a 15 character limit username
is beyond backwards.

How difficult would it be:

Non-Unique Gamertags up to 12 characters

Unique Gamertags up to 15 characters

Yes, unfortunately, this is the current limit today.

You wouldn't be able to use that as a gamertag anymore because it exceeds the new 12 character limit for gamertags.

The limit with the new system is 12 characters so if the gamertag you are trying to add to the new account is above that may be the reason you are getting this message.

Unfortunately if this is the case there is no one that can get you the gamertag above 12 characters.

I would like to add that if your previous gamertag is longer than 12 characters, it will not be able to be claimed by anyone; including yourself. The character limit used to be 15, but it was recently changed to 12 for the new gamertag system.
