Suggestion for Hexen, Heretic, Wolfenstein 3D and in general, DOS game source ports.

While extremely accurate, due to mainly just being an emulation of how the game ran on DOS, DOSBox ports have a general lack of modern features that would make these games a way better experience on modern systems, can have performance issues, make users open to the original game's bugs and exploits, and are often just going to be opened up by users to take the game files and run it on the currently better option to play these games, source ports. Source ports are open source, free, and perfectly functional ports of DOS game's engines, giving perfectly accurate and customizable ways to play these games, with notable modern feature like widescreen support, good mouselook and acceleration, controller support, better multiplayer, limit-removing (which is fantastic for mod support), and can even be multiplatform, due to source ports being able to run on Linux and console operating systems. Wolfenstein 3D's best current source port, ECWolf, could be a fantastic way to run Wolfenstein 3D on modern systems, way better than just running it on DOSBox. Same with Hexen and Heretic, there's currently two main source ports, these being ChocolateDoom and GZDoom, the first one being better for acurracy purposes while the second one being a more complete, customizable and limit-removing way to play these games, please consider this.
