Suddenly not able to use controllers due to glitch

This started about a month ago when i was playing a game and then my ability to use my controller was randomly taken away, as was the audio from the controller connected headset. After this happened i reset my xbox only for it to happen again about twenty
minutes into a game. The audio from the tv is fine and the game doesn't freeze and also continues to use the button i pressed when the glithc happens. After testing what works and doesn't it appears that its the xboxs doing as i have two working controllers
both suddenly hit with this problem. It can happpen either immediately when the xbox is turned on or thirty minutes into a game. The batteries are fine, i knwo that because i have been using different ones from a new 48 pack of AAs. I cant go into settings
as i cant really do qnything besides turn off/unplug the xbox. I cant find anyone else with this problem and I can't find help in the troubleshooting feature on here. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great as i am fully out of ideas.

Edit: it is possible the xbox is just old as it is the first xbox one.

I'm sorry to hear about the multiple issues that you've been experiencing with your controllers / console.

If you haven't already done so, go ahead and try performing a Soft console Factory
reset on your console by doing the following:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select All Settings.
Select System.
Select Console info & updates.
Select Reset console. [Keep my games and Apps]

Make sure you have both your email and password on hand as you will be asked to sign back in. There is an option to delete everything and to save your games and apps; choose the latter. This will
reset the Operating system [OS] of the console and allow you a fresh start-up.

I wish that was the case but theres nothing in between the controller and the xbox but air, i have tried playing with the controller on the xbox as well.

is it possible that there is something interfering with the signal (other electronic devices near the Xbox or the controllers or something blocking the signal (eg; a coffee table between you and the Xbox)?

This seems to have worked so far! Although it did take a couple of resets before i could get to that option in the settings, thank you very much.
