How do I enable subtitles?

I have turned on cloud captioning in the system menu but no subtitles with Freeview.

If your TV has in-built Freeview, can you still use Live TV on your Xbox One, and how?

In short, you can't.

Long answer: Freeview is (by my understanding) the UK equivilant of a built in digital tuner for broadcast (over the air) signals. Even if your TV has an appropriate HDMI output (say, for surrround sound), it would only be active when the TV was sending
the Freeview to its own screen. when you switch to another HDMI input (for your x1) the output would switch to sound output for your x1, which wouldloop on itself and could potentially damage your TV or console.

You will require an external Freeview tuner to take advantage of the x1's "Watch TV" feature.

Xbox one TV help

You will probably need a freeview box. I'm not really sure how that all works because we don't have freeview in the United States. Assuming freeview boxes connect via HDMI, then you can use it on Xbox One. Otherwise you will need a freeview box and the Xbox
One Digital TV Tuner.

I have the opposite problem! Subtitles started appearing on Freeview TV and the Closed Caption option has no effect

@RippenHarra Freeview is not built into every television set here in the UK and it is most commonly a Box you have to buy seperately, we in the UK have just recently gone from terrestrial TV with a wopping 5 channels to having to have a digital tuner, the
reason it is a box is because we have a choice of different providers, Sky, Freeview, Youview, Freesat, it will however eventually end up as standard that TVs will have built in digital tuners but thats not the case at the moment.

Ah Ok. Thats Different. I should have said the Digital Tuner is built into our tvs with allowing access to this one free to Air Service. On older tvs a set top box is required to get the signal to the tv but these are not provider dependent. Each box does
the same thing.

The digital TV tuner is for freeview, not free sat. You need to connect it to a terrestrial antenna.

DVB-C is for cable, not freesat
