Subscription reduced by 1 day when redeeming Xbox Live codes

I recently renewed mine and the same thing happened to me. The new expiry date is one day earlier than it was last time.

I just assumed it was Microsoft trying to make more money on the sly.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have question on redeeming gold code when you have Ultimate subscription. The code for Xbox live gold will get pro-rated and turned into Ultimate subscription. For example: 1 month of gold= 20 days
of Ultimate. ! year of gold=4 months of Ultimate. Here is the

When you sign up for Ultimate, if you have Xbox Live Gold, Game Pass for console, Game Pass for PC, or EA Play, those subscriptions will be converted to Ultimate at the following rates: -

Xbox Live Gold = 1:1

Game Pass for console = 1:1

Game Pass for PC = 1:1

EA Play = 3:1

So, for example, you have 3 months of Game Pass for PC now. If you were to pay for 1 month of Ultimate, you would end up with 4 months of Ultimate; 3 months for the converted Game Pass for PC, and 1 month that you're paying for.

What you can do is stack up some pre-paid Xbox Live Gold before you sign up for Ultimate, to get the best deal out of it. For example, if you were to buy and redeem 2 x 12 month Xbox Live Gold codes, then pay for 1 month of Ultimate, you'd end up with 28 months of Ultimate at a much reduced price. The maximum you can have of any single subscription is 36 months.

NOTE: The above conversion rates only apply when you go from not having Ultimate to signing up for it. If you already have Ultimate and you redeem a code for any of the subscriptions mentioned above, it will still get converted to Ultimate, but at a considerably lower rate. So, if you want to get the best bang for your buck, make sure you stack up subscriptions BEFORE you sign up for Ultimate so you get the better conversion rate(s).

When you try to access Games with Gold, make sure you're using the gamertag that has the Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. If you redeemed a promotional Xbox Live Gold code as
part of your subscription, you won't be eligible for Games with Gold. If you used a prepaid code to sign up for Xbox Live Gold, make sure it was successfully redeemed.

To clear it up. If you have an existing 30 days subscription(trial or not). You should not be able to redeem a 14 day trial. If you where able to redeem a trial code during this period, then that 14 day trial will be useless as it won't stack with your 1
month subscription. Once your 1 month subscription ends, everything ends. It won't continue your trial subscription that you redeemed within those period.

So basically, if you have a free 2, 7 or 14 days trial. It is best to be used after an existing subscription ends. And make sure not to redeem them all at once. If you have redeemed a 14 days trial first then redeemed another 2 days trial, it won't stack.
It will overwrite the first one you redeemed. So instead of getting 16 days, you will only get 2 days of trial subscription.
