Submission / release of Windows 10 UWP game for Xbox

Hi,

I have couple of questions regarding a submission of Windows 10 UWP game for Xbox.

We are in the process of adapting our existing Windows 10 UWP game Yatzy Ultiamte -
Yatzy Free beziehen – Microsoft Store de-DE - for Xbox One consoles.

As we are near the end of this process, I have couple of questions regarding the submission and availability of the game on the Windows Store on Xbox consoles:

- Are we required to go through some specialized certification/program in order to be able to release the version for Xbox? This question is in reference to the ID@Xbox and Xbox Live Creators Program. Although we have features like friends’ management, multiplayer,
statistics, chat and so on, however all of them are our own custom implementation, and we don't use any of the Xbox Live features.

- When submitting the new package on the Dev Center, is it sufficient only to check the "Windows 10 Xbox" option within the New Submission -> "Packages" --> "Device family availability", or we should make some additional changes in the project code (referencing
some Xbox extension or similar).

- Is there any dev benefit for submitting Windows 10 UWP apps/games for Xbox consoles? Something like spotlight opportunity, promotional campaign that will help us gain better visibility on the Xbox Windows Store.

UWP apps confusion

So I am a little new to UWP apps....

I had netflix on my xbox. I do not have it on my windows 10 computer. Did the netflix app on the xbox automatically download the uwp version? Or do I have to install netflix on my windows 10 pc before itll send the uwp version to my xbox?

How do I know it is the uwp version? Also, when browsing the store im assuming there wont be a uwp netflix and a windows 10 netflix? so it wont be labeled uwp netflix or uwp yahoo mail etc.?

 

UWP apps confusion

Hey HBK SeanMichael,

UWP means Universal Windows Plattform. That means that a Developer only need to develop one App that can be used across Windows 10 PC, Windows 10 Mobile and Xbox One. The Stores of all these devices are merged into one store. So you dont need to worry about
it stated as UWP it most certainly will be a UWP then.

The Netflix App found on Xbox One is indeed already the UWP Version, aswell as Groove, Onedrive, Hulu and stuff. They should all share your experience across your Win10 devices.

If you search for Netflix on your Xbox One and look under the Description there is stated:

Available on: Xbox One, PC, Mobile device. Any app thats labeled in that way is always a UWP App.

certification and what all it entails, but you should be able to obtain the information you need from the Windows Dev Center resources. If not, there is a support section available HERE,
