Stuck!

This game is really hard! i know about the "you will die many times" thing and I'm fine with that, but i can't make
any progress...

I've got as far (ONLY) as Undead Burg and i can't get any further. I tried to beat that Black Knight aho stands with his back to you in an alleyway about 20 times, and he
always beats me. i chuck a knife at him to get his attention, then lead him back to the wider area next to the tower where the sniper was with the crossbow, and try to fight him, but i can't beat him and i certainly can't get round him for a backstab.
Sometimes i climb up the ladder to the roof from where the 3 guys had been lobbing firebombs at me, which i read somewhere you should try, and try to take him out from there, but he stays underneath and nothing i can throw at him (firebombs or knives) does
much damage and as he's almost completely underneath me, i can't shoot him with arrows.

When i get bored losing to him i go through the white fog in the large tower above and try to have a go at the Taurus demon thing. i read somewhere you just need to run back up the ladder where the 2 snipers had been and shoot him from the top with arrows,
but he jumps up to the top of that tower and batters me, even if i get right underneath him and start swinging, it only takes 2 hits from him and i need to drink the Estus stuff, then he hits me again while i'm doing that and i die again.

The only other place is through the New Londo Ruins, and i take the potion thing to enable me to see the ghosts and try to fight them one-at-a-time but they always come in with a few of them and my shield doesn't stop their spikey hand-things.

What's up with this game? Isn't this supposed to be enjoyable? like i said, i don't mind all the dieing, if I'm making progress but i'm not.

My headset is stuck on mute

I'm glad I came across this! I have 2 Turtle Beach headsets and I was muting them a lot if I wasn't actively talking at the time. Now I think I might not mute them anymore!!

Same here. It was a good game, but if you played FC3, it's essentially the same thing in a new locale. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but towards the end I just wanted it to be over. Not to mention, the story was completely forgettable.

 

Black knights are fairly cheap and super hard hitting at such an early stage of the game I would just forget them for now come back later when your character is a little beefier in the gear department.

As for the Taurus demon don't stand on top of the tower for too long drop down on way down hold attack button with whatever melee weapon you use. you'll do massive damage...if you can safely climb ladder again do it. if not roll to other side of bridge
to bait demon away run at him and double tap b when you get close...hopefully your dodge works and you pass him climb ladder like mad man...look down make sure he is there drop down hold attack...rinse repeat. There is nothing reallly in new londo that should
could concern you right now (especially if GwG version as the ghosts drop no souls (at least to my understanding)

 

If you have the master key you can get the Pine resin? from the house above where that Black Knight is.

Put that on your weapon just before fighting the Taurus Demon & it will do a lot of damage.

 

Just wait don't want to spoil to much but just wait until black knights are normal every day mobs and you fight an entire herd of the cow demons by that time you'll be an expert in dodge, parrying and blocking.

 

Hi Badger. yeh, i got that master key, and put the Pine Resin on my something-club (whatever it's called it has 97 damage), which made it sparkle prettily while that Knight kicked me around the square!

Maybe a better idea though to have a scrap with the Taurus demon with it though...and try the air-attack thing as suggested by both you and StompRogue.

I bait the Knight, and I run up get on the house(the house where the three people shoot firebomb at you) and throw spells at him or at least the firebombs and he goes poof!!!

 

Two things:

1 - You'd be surprised just how many of the attacks you can adsorb with your shield.

2 - Learn to roll. Once you've mastered the ability to roll, you'll be able to dodge pretty much everything.

 

I too am stuck there mpl911...but tere are some great suggestions here I am gonna try.I refuse to give up on this game.It got a high rating for a reason.

Wait till you get the Drake Sword before taking on the Black Knights, trust me it will make fighting them so much easier cause 2 backstabs and they are usually dead. But rolling around their attacks is your best bet to fighting them, because once you get
behind them you drop the guard button and backstab for the win! (This even gives you a chance to drink the Estus Flask in case you are low on health in the battle). Also, try walking (slowly) up behind him, and get a backstab off, it's basically a free critical
hit

 

First of all, you do not need to fight the Black Knights at all, they are optional if you want the extra souls/item behind them.

Secondly, I recommend grinding the area a little bit to get a few levels which will help get you some extra resistance and whatever other stats you want to buff.

Lastly, like others have said, get used to the rolling to avoid attacks (this will help a lot for the Taurus Demon)

I was stuck in the Undead Berg for a few days before I grinded it a little bit and then it wasn't an issue.

Just as a tip: it's probably not a good idea to waste levels on resistance.

 

Rember when doing a plunging attack to use 2 hands it does more dmg or am I wrong
