Stuck on Gamertag Creation Screen

I am attempting to create my Xbox account. When I get to the gamertag creation screen, I enter a gamertag (either a personal one or one of the four provided options) and click "Let's Go". The button briefly becomes slightly darker, showing that I clicked it, and then goes back to its original color and nothing happens.

I have tried this on various browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Edge) and have always gotten the same result. The issue is not that I do not have a valid Microsoft account; I am signed into it right now.

I cannot contact Xbox support because I cannot create an account.

Hi, Marrion,

The link you provided along with the 5 steps (https://account.xbox.com/en-us/Profile) worked. While I was previously unable to create a gamertag, this bypassed the issue, allowed me to log into my Xbox account, and further allowed me to customize the gamertag.

You are only offered a free Gamertag change if you stuck with the Gamertag given to you when creating your account for the first time. If you decided during account creation you chose one of your own you wont get a free change and will need to pay the
fee
