Streaming Video/Games Freezes Unless I play windowed or a toolbar is up. Audio is fine.

Each time I stream from my Xbox One to my PC's Xbox App, I find that if I play in fullscreen mode, with all toolbars and menus hidden, invariably, after only a few seconds of play, the video always freezes up. The game is still responsive, if I move the
control, I can hear the audio, and I can hear the characters moving around... but the video locks up.

IF... I then bring up any sort of menu or toolbar on the xbox app, the video pops right back to being perfectly fine. If I leave the menus/toolbars up, the game and video continues to function as normal. If I play in windowed mode, the game functions as normal.

But for whatever reason, playing in fullscreen mode always causes my video to freeze.

The problem is consistent no matter what I'm doing, from the simplest of menus to the most complicated of games. ALL I want to do is play fullscreen here, but for some reason the app only seems to want to stream properly if I have a toolbar open, or something
else in the way. Has anyone else experienced this issue and/or found a fix for it?

Screen Freezes while in Full screen Streaming

So the streaming works flawlessly with the exception of if I want to play the game full screen on my PC the APP freezes, however if I play in windowed mode and stretch the border so it's mostly full screen it works fine. Don't know if anyone else is aware
of this issue or if there are measure being taken to fix it.

Video apps freezing

When ever I go onto an app on my Xbox One that includes watching a video (eg YouTube, Twitch, WWE network) it freezes up and the picture loops over the last second or so while the audio is still playing in the background as if the video is playing normally,
this also sees to happen when watching live streaming on Twitch. Games seem to work fine. Anyone have any ideas that could help me?

 

I also have this problem, used to work perfectly fine, could even stream in very high quality flawlessly. Now I can't go fullscreen at all. I was told by Microsoft to do a system recovery...but balls to that.

 

Well look at that. I have EXACTLY the same issue. No matter what quality, no matter what I do. Fullscreen the image will freeze but sound work fine.

Today I even had the graphics driver crash on me multiple times. Possible that this occured first after a driver update?

This used to run perfectly.

 

Starting to get worse, the app itselft is starting to freeze for me. Don't know if it was the new xbox app update, a Win 10 update, or driver related. Some answers on this would be wonderful.

 

Well I can still make it run just nicely in windowed mode. Tried to Powercycle the Xbox and re-add it to the xbox app again but nothing worked. Oh well, atleast windowed mode works...

 

I am having the same issue. Also i cant record gameplay. Just tells me to play some more then try again.. :|

 

I might have a few suggestions. Try updating your graphics drivers and if you're on a laptop, use the High Performance power mode. Also if you have AMD hardware and their drivers. The Xbox App needs to be in power saving mode in the switchable graphics application.

Sorry I couldn't give you a definite explanation for your issue, it's just that there are so many possibilities as to why you are experiencing this problem.

 

As for the Game DVR problem, you need to make sure that your are playing an Xbox certified game such as Age of Empires: Castle Siege, Asphalt 8, Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Project Spark, etc.

 

I have the newest drivers for my Nvidia card. I actually almost think it happened at the same time I updated, not entirely sure however. But so far no newer drivers has been released for my graphics card.

Using a 980 TI at the moment.

 

Just tried to downgrade the drivers from Nvidia to drivers I know worked well. No change, exact same issue.

Tried streaming to my wifes Surface 3 and it worked perfectly in fullscreen. It is on my stationary computer I have this issue, both xbox and stationary computer is connected by wire.

Tried multiple times Powercycling the xbox etc and nothing works so far...

Sure hope some solution will present itself shortly, its a shame.

 

I have the same issue - Didn't have the issue with a 770, but now I have a 970 ftw+ I seem to have issues, whether there was an update in between these 2 graphics cards, I'm not sure. But now I find I have to either have a toolbar open, or have the Network
Monitor enabled so the game I'm streaming will run normally. It seems almost as if, if there's nothing 'physical' from the machine side overlaying the streamed video / game, the program almost goes into a kind of sleep mode / or as if you've alt-tabbed and
it's paused / halted the stream, until you show some kind of activity again.

Tried the whole driver re-installing the drivers, this made no difference.

 

Still no fix for the fullscreen issue :/ I have noticed though, even playing at the same resolution, I can fullscreen the app on my secondary monitor and it plays perfectly fine.

 

Hah you are right! From secondary monitor it works just perfectly on fullscreen.
