Streaming to Twitch via Xbox causes Xbox Live Status to set to "Offline?"

So comparing the settings from a PS4 streaming to twitch and an Xbox One streaming to Twitch isn't the best comparison to ensure everything is working, as settings and options could be different or behave differently on each console. But to be clear, your
friend is on a PS4 streaming via a Twitch/native streaming on the console and not via a PC and capture card? Additionally when you say 'non-xbox' friends, do you mean players on different platforms, or do you mean users on Xbox that are not your Xbox friends?
That can help us determine the next best steps for troubleshooting.

I would recommend reviewing the Privacy and Online Safety Settings for your account. Make sure
settings are there to allow you to share outside of Xbox Live. While there review the other settings and make sure there set to what you're comfortable with, since you're streaming to the internet.

There is currently an issue with the Twitch app which may be the cause of the issue.

1. Launch the game on your Xbox.

2. Go to the game's settings menu.

3. Look for the "Live Streaming" option and ensure that it is enabled.

If you are live streaming on Twitch you must use the twitch settings. When you stream on Twitch in a party everyone in that party must “include audio” for it to be heard on stream.

OK, so to clarify: on Xbox One, you start streaming and it says you're Live, but on Twitch it says you're offline?

There are only a few solutions I can think of, and some of them may seem stupid to suggest but I want to be thorough:

Are you sure you linked the correct Twitch account?

Does it actually say you're Live on the Twitch app, or did it fail without your knowledge? Or perhaps you're on the set-up screen (which shows your stream and, if applicable, Kinect camera preview, but is not actually streaming this)?

You could also get a friend to attempt to view your stream from their friends list - click on your name which will show you're streaming and they can click that to open the stream in the Twitch app. If that works, it further suggests it may be linked to
the wrong Twitch account.

I'm not sure what else it could be, but let us know if any of these scenarios apply and if not we can work from there.
