    Streaming to PC: Xbox Download Queue performance drops to almost 0


    I noticed today that my Xbox One can't download a game at normal network speeds when I'm streaming to my PC.

    I tried to start downloading the new Halo 5 update while streaming from my PC. After 30 minutes, my download was still at 1%. At this point I accidentally uninstalled Halo 5, so now I'm reinstalling it. I started the install from the Xbox, not streaming this
    time.

    Once the new install started, I brought up my router bandwidth monitor and saw that I was downloading at around 30Mb/s. I watched the bandwidth as I started to stream to my computer and the Xbox traffic bottomed out. I only see 2Mb/s while streaming if I'm
    lucky. Immediately after stopping my stream, the download starts going at 30Mb/s.

    This has happened to me before, but I didn't make the connection between the slow download speeds and my streaming of the Xbox to my PC.

    My Xbox One is on a wired connection. My router is a brand new Asus RT-AC87R with the most up to date firmware(3.0.0.4.378_5134).

    Game streaming from Xbox One to Win 10 PC not working

    By "not working", I mean horribly laggy, constantly pixelating and complaining of "network connection problems". The Xbox App reports a very poor and inconsistent network connection (averages 3Mb/s, but it's up and down between 0 and 6).

    My network uses powerline adapters by the way.

    I could accept this, except everything else works fine over the same network connection (streaming from my NAS, streaming from my gaming PC using Steam).

    To be clear: Steam works flawlessly streaming games over the exact same cables and powerline adapters to the exact same PC in my living room.

    The only thing that doesn't work well over that connection is Xbox game streaming. (Even Xbox game downloads are super quick - not the best measure of network connectivity, but quick, smooth downloads, and seemingly none of the up and down performance issues
    that Xbox game streaming suffers.)

    Any ideas?

    My Win 10 PCs are up to date, cables all good, etc.

    Can't download anything from Xbox app

    Same here. I installed the app today as I got a 3070ti and wanted to play. Tried downloading forza. In the download bit it says preparing 0% then after a while it just removes itself from the download queue.

    However after restarting the PC, its begun downloading, give the age old a try?

    Hey there!

    It's not just a case of the download speed, it's to do with the latency of the streaming connection. Because of the nature of how packets queue and things like that, to get a really low latency between the Xbox and PC, the speed has to be limited. When you're
    downloading, it doesn't matter too much about latency. When you're game streaming though, it matters a lot. That's why the console will limit the connection speed when streaming.

    I also have a Steam Link, and you can set that to "unlimited bandwidth" for streaming games from the PC, when you use that setting however, not only is there a warning to tell you that the latency will increase, but when I've used it, there is a horrible
    delay between input and movement on the screen.

    The best thing to do is not to use the game streaming feature if you are downloading and are in a hurry for that download to complete.

    No, you can't download it on a PC and then transfer it to the Xbox.

    You can however add it to the download queue via the PC and it will then be downloaded the next time you switch your Xbox on.

    I meant in total, either the streaming or in noticing any drop if visual performance...for me everything is just fine, so zero problems means the overall streaming experience.

    Sorry, but you can only queue up a download on the PC to start downloading when you start the Xbox, but you can't actually download the content from the PC.
