    Storage Expansion and Xbox Series X


    Hello, I’ve attempted to use the 1 TB expansion pack for the Xbox Series X, but I’ve faced numerous unusual issues with the console.

    I’ve tested multiple units from Seagate as well as the recently launched WD model, and all show the same problems:

    • Loss of network connections • “Instant on” not working • Unexpected system restarts • Game corruption

    I’ve noticed posts from other users mentioning similar problems from years ago. Is this related to software? Will Microsoft ever resolve it?

    Hi,

    Both Series X/S games and Xbox One games that been optimised (I'm British) for Series X/S must be installed on either the internal storage or the expansion card. They can not be run from a USB connected storage device. My optimised Series X/S Xbox One games
    were moved to my Expansion card during their update.

    Are you trying to install and at the same time play games optimized for Xbox Series X|S games on it? If yes, that will only work with Seagate Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S. We can only install Xbox One games on a normal external hard drive. Here's what you can check

    You can use an external storage device for backwards compatible content and to store Series X games, but the Series X games will only run off the internal drive or the expansion card.
