    Why is it impossible to contact Microsoft for a refund?

    If you are unable to log into an account to manage a subscription, then your only option is to have the financial institution attached to the payment method stop all payments to Microsoft. This is the only way to stop payments other than logging in to the account.

    If you are unable to access the account to manage the subscription, then your only option is to have the bank stop all payments to Microsoft. There is no other way. Either log in to cancel the subscription or have the bank stop the payments. That's it.

    No, turning off auto-renew just stops payment and then stops the subscription when it expires. Cancelling subscription stops it staight away.
