My son plays the game Fortnite (from Epic Games) on his Xbox One.

Within Fortnite there’s supposed to be the following setting: “Allow Cross Platform Parties”

This setting is does not appear on my son’s Xbox One.

Therefore, I tried, modifying his Microsoft account that he uses for his Xbox One gamertag from a child account to an adult account, pretending he’s an adult.

However, the missing “Allow Cross Platform Parties” setting does still not appear in Fortnite.

    Please help!

    :)

    Fortnite Cross platform

When I go to play Fortnite cross platform on Xbox it brings up an error message that I cannot join the cross platform party. When I go into settings in Fortnite to change the option to allow cross platform parties, it does not appear. I am able to play
cross platform parties when on a computer. From what I have seen on the internet, the Xbox account has to be an adult account, but I cannot figure out how to promote a child account to an adult account.

BUG - Cross platform play does not enable for child accounts no matter what settings you set. This needs EPIC/MS attention

Yes, I'm aware the setting to allow cross-platform parties is in the Fortnite game itself. That option does not appear in the games settings when using the child account with Fortnite.

What is strange is that I logged into an adult account and don't see the setting to allow cross platform parties either, but cross platform play is enabled. It used to appear on the game settings screen just under the options for streamer mode. Epic may
have updated the UI with the latest release. With the adult account, I was using a keyboard and mouse and when I went to start the game I was prompted to allow cross platform support since Epic wants to pair Xbox players using keyboard and mouse with PC players
using the same controls to make the games fair.

When I tried to start a game with the child account Fornite displayed a message saying cross platform play is not allow on this account. No option to enable it was given. So it looks like Epic may have changed how this works, but they still are not recognizing
when these options should be accessible to the child account OR the settings on the web aren't actually getting to the Xbox console itself.

I'll try removing the child account from the Xbox and re-adding it.

Try creating new account, as an adult account and try to play Fortnite. If this setting appears.

Also there is possibility that it is not available on Xbox One.

If so, try contact also MS support. If this setting is available.

    Hello there!

I don't think this relates to the account child or adult status. The option should be there in the game. When you entered into the lobby, press the menu button, click the Settings button, and scroll down and find the option "Allow Cross Platform Parties"
    and switch it to on.

Also please note that you can only cross platform play with others players if you are epic games friends with them.

  6. First Once a MS account is made and it is attached to a MS profile whatever the DOB on the account was when it was originally setup is what is considered the DOB for the Xbox profile. So even if you went in and changed the DOB on the MS account side of things
it would not reflect on the xbox profile side of things. This is put into place to prevent children from signing into their parents account and changing their DOB so they can bypass the settings the parents put onto their accounts.

With that being said MS is looking into allowing the cross platform play on child accounts. Do not know when that will take affect but as of right now they are looking into it.
