    Still encountering audio blow out when plugging in headphones


    This issue has been happening for a while now. At least a year and a half.

    To replicate: start playing Spotify on Xbox one X through my tv/sound bar. Then plug a headset in the controller using a 3.5 mm jack.

    As soon as the console registers the headset, the music playing gets extremely loud. I have the audio balance for the headset 5% music audio, 95% game audio.

    To return the volume back to normal, I drop the balance to 0%, 100%. Doesn’t matter what level of balance between the two. This happens at every level, and happens every time.

    This is occurs with the Elite Series 2 controller, the stock Xbox One X, and a wired PDP Afterglow Controller. The headset I am using is the 4Shot Polk Audio Xbox One Gaming headset.

    Xbox Wireless Adapter for Win10 PC: No rumble or headset audio support?

    Hey everyone,

    Audio worked out of the box for me. A USB Audio Device appeared when I plugged the Stereo Headset adaptor into the controller AND plugged headphones into the adaptor.

    This is using a standard Xbox One controller (i.e. not an elite) via the wireless adaptor with v20.24.34.491 drivers.

    I Think you are asking this.

    1. If you buy a DAC so that you can convert digital optical audio into analog so that you can plug it into your headphones and get game audio. Then yes this will work.

    2. If you plug your 360 into your one via the HDMI passthrough will you hear your 360 via your headphones. Yes I think so.

    3. 360 chat should still work as it has its own connection.

    4. You could use Kinect for game chat on the ONE.

    Another option would be to connect the headphones to your TV (either the headphone socket, analogue audio out or using a DAC to convert from digital audio depending on the connections on your TV)

    For what it's worth, I had a similar problem and I figured out that the problem was being caused by my Turtle Beach headphones that were plugged in to the audio inputs ahead of the Xbox outputs. Once I removed the Turtle Beach audio plugs and just plugged
    the Xbox audio out directly into my TV the volume was fine.

    After latest update, Dolby Atmos for Headphones reverts to Windows Sonic after reboot

    More observations. When you visit the audio menu after rebooting (w/o headphones connected), you see Windows Sonic. However, if you plug headphones it automatically goes back to Dolby Atmos for Headphones. So maybe it's not broken, but it works differently
    than before (where it always said Atmos whether the headphones were plugged or not)?

    The 360 is never "aware" of X41 headphones. The included USB power cable only provides power to the transmitter base.



    The X41 headphones are plugged into either optical or analog audio out.



    For mic support, there's a cable that goes from the headphones to the controller.



    You'll get sound out of the TV if you don't turn the TV's speakers off. All audio outputs are active at all times on a 360.
