Still can't download GWG 360 games on Xbox One even after newest update

I thought the recent update was supposed to fix this, but I still can't download the 360 GWG games onto my xbox one.

On the Xbox one, I get the message "go to xbox.com to purchase" and when I go onto my PC web browser it tells me to make the purchase on my xbox instead.

The account is my son's account.. I tried adding my credit card to his account in case it needed a payment method and it didn't help.

Can't access gwg 360 games on Xbox website

Every time I search the game up on the website and try to download the 360 gwg, it still is not free even though I am gold. I was able to get the Xbox one gwg.

 

Where's my two NEW games with gold as promised?

GWG on the xbox one is different from the 360.

You get one free game per month plus one game carried over from the previous month.

It was never promised that we would get two new games per month.

The only exception was last month when we got double the usual new games to celebrate 100,000,000 downloads of the free gwg games.

GWG on the xbox one works exactly as it should.

 

The update just released today March 23 2016. It has not been pushed to all consoles but they will all get it automatically soon. If you would like the update now you can under settings > console info and updates > update now. After this update you should
be able to purchase 360 backwards compatible games (including Games with Gold titles) directly on the Xbox One

Then home gold doesn't carry over to the website

Only the primary gold account can make website purchase with games with gold

And yes you still need a payment option to download on the console

 

Does your son's account have Xbox live Gold?

 

Yes, my son's account is the one with the xbox live gold membership and is the account I am trying to download from.

Yes, I applied the update and no, it did not fix the issue despite making the purchase process look different.

As I said I also tried adding my credit card as a payment option on his account and it did not fix the problem.

When I try to download using his account from the web store it says

"Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com. Please complete this transaction from your Xbox."

Then when I try to purchase from the xbox using his account it says a message saying I can't purchase from the xbox I need to go to xbox.com

 

Xbox Live gold seems totally broken to me.. I just tried the free one month subscription for my account to see if I could download, and the games with gold page just keeps sending me to the 'buy membership' page. So I bought one month for $10 and it still
sends me to the 'buy membership' page.

Well I'm guessing that the reason you're having trouble is because your son's account is a child's account and not an adult. Try removing any restrictions you have on your son's account.

Or you could try upgrading the account to an adult. Try these steps:
support.xbox.com/.../promote-child-account

Also are you and your son using the same Xbox console? If you are he could sign into your account and then sign in his account and he would be able to play all your games. If you have two separate consoles you could do game sharing as well.

 

I removed the restrictions on what he can download it doesn't make any difference.

I don't want to change him to an adult account.

He has 9 months left on a 12 month subscription, I finally was able to download 360 content using my account and the subscription I bought by going directly to the xbox. If I let his subscription lapse and just use one under my name his xbox one GWG downloads
will stop working.

The only solution I see is paying for two xbox live gold subscriptions indefinitely which is not a great solution.

 

Ah I see. So you're sharing gold at the moment? That would explain it. GWG can only be downloaded on an account with a paid Xbox live Gold subscription. So yes, you will have to buy gold on each account in order to get GWG.

My son has a paid xbox live gold subscription and I am able to download the free xb1 games under it including the rated M ones because I do not have content restrictions set.

Are you saying there is some special restriction that you can't download the free xbox 360 games under a child xbox live gold account?

 

Some games require the account holder to be 18+

 

I don't think this is the problem.. I tried downloading every free xb360 game for the last 4 months and none of them would download under his account.

 

I just put the credit card back on his account and it doesn't even let me buy an E rated 360 game.

I get the same message saying it doesn't work from xbox.com and to try the purchase on the xbox.

Which is strange because I am on the xbox.
