Vermillioncurve, have you tried testing that controller on another device for example your mobile phone? If the same behavior is confirmed, it would be a mechanical issue of the controller and must be replaced.

I bought the xbox x and connected it to my old samsung tv and it worked great. I bought a new samsung qled tv for Christmas and hooked it up. The tv is so smart it recognized the xbox and loaded it onto tv. I tried to play a game from the console but it doesn't allow me to access it. I can only get what you call cloud gaming. Is there a way to play directly to tv like before. Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure how Arthur is getting video that way, but the solution is the same

Get an HDMI repeater from Amazon, so that the TV handshakes with that and not the console.
