steam and xbox one wireless controller

i'm trying to use my new xbox one wireless controller to play skyrim from steam games and it doesn't work.

i did trying using it on a game from origin, kingdom of alamur, and it is doing fine.

so will the controller not work on any steam game? and if can't play steam games, are there others that wont work either?

Xbox One Wireless Adapter does not play nicely with Steam Big Picture

Running Windows 10 and Steam.

Wired Xbox One controllers work great with Steam as anyone would tell you. Now the new wireless adapter allows us to play with our controllers wirelessly. However the wireless adapter does not have full functionality with Steam. You cannot open up the steam
overlay by pressing the xbox home button on the controller. If you plug in your controller the issue immediately resolves itself. This is pretty disappointing as I thought buying the wireless adapter would make my life a little easier not having cords around.
However not being able to bring up steam overlay is unacceptable to me. I would much rather run wired again and have everything work smoothly in Steam Big Picture Mode rather than deal with half support of the wireless adapter. Hopefully Microsoft and Valve
engineers can get together and fix this. Xbox One controllers are still king on PC and Steam is still the game platform king on PC.

xbox one controller is not working for Bully - Rockstar

I bought the updated bluetooth wireless xbox one controller for PC and it works for the games on steam except for Fully from Rockstar. Bully is playable on Xbox 360 but isn't working for xbox one.

There is also a setting in Skyrim itself that needs to be set for controller support. See the Bethesda support page here:

Hi Xabi,

I found on Steam's support site for the Steam Link that a few controllers are compatible with the Steam Link on a Samsung Smart TV, but the Xbox One wireless controller is not one of them. It says wired so you will need to use it with a USB cable.

You'd probably be better off to go for an Xbox One controller as they are the newest Xbox controllers out, and it is easier to get support for them (in my opinon).

In terms of wired vs. wireless, it's really up to you.

I haven't played games on PC with an Xbox One controller, and I'm not a steam member.

so far only on steam games. I have not being able to tried it on other games, but in theory when I open the xbox menu it should bug as well, but it doesn't. Which leads me to believe that it's maybe a problem caused by steam?
