    Starting Remote Play freezes the PC app and oveclocks my CPU. How to fix it?


    This issue has been going on since June last year. I reported on MS Feedback and never got an answer.

    Remote Play worked fine until June/July last year. Don't know if it was an app update or an Xbox firmware update but since then I can't use Remote Play on PC.

    Every time it connects, the stream starts freaking out and the app gets stuck disconnecting/connecting, the CPU usage rises to the 90s% and app starts freezing, to the point I have to kill it in Task Manager.

    I tried repairing the app, cleaning the cache and uninstall and reinstall the app and nothing worked.

    Ads affect game play-----apparently fixed as of 07/28/2017. Thank you.

    Disagree! Still broken with ads freezing gameplay and being a CPU hog (as of July 31 2017) on Windows PC app.

    Yes, the new Xbox app allows you to start a remote play session if you already have your Xbox One configured.

    You can start a remote play session by clicking on the little Xbox icon (consoles) that's next to the notifications icon.
    Once you click on the “consoles” icon, you will be able to select your Xbox and start playing remotely.

    In case you don't see the console after clicking on the icon, please follow these steps:

    “Open the Xbox app for PC.
    Click on your profile picture and select View profile.
    Under Where I play, select the Add a console option and follow the steps shown.”

    Remote Play button missing from Windows Xbox app

    This has just happened to me. I have an Xbox One and it's been working fine since I started playing remotely in January. It was fine yesterday. I went to play this afternoon and the button was missing from the app. I've tried everything I can think of and nothing worked so I decided to uninstall the app and start afresh. The app stops downloading at 130kb!

    I'm hoping it's just a temporary problem that Microsoft are working on because it's really frustrating. I can play on the big TV but I prefer to remotely play on my PC.

    Why is there an xbox companion app and an xbox app for PC? Just put all the features in one app.

    Two different things one companion app is a front end to your xbox for remote play

    Xbox app is storefront for pc and remote play and cloud play
