    Hi,

    I am using StarLink as my internet provider currently. I like to use Xbox live while traveling in remote environments.

    Could you share with me if there is a standard for roughly speaking how bad my network latency can be without being disconnected from Xbox live?

    For example, if StarLink says I have latencies as bad as 2 seconds, then Microsoft won’t disconnect me from Xbox live. But if my latencies are worst than 3 seconds, Xbox live will determine that my network is too unstable and disconnect me. Could you share any insight on what that threshold might be?

    This would be very helpful so that I know when I am in a location with acceptable network speeds to get online!

    If you are a Starlink user who wants to know whether you can play online games uninterrupted in an RV, you need to forward specific ports on your router for which you need port forwarding feature for your Starlink ISP. Port forwarding can enhance Starlink speeds for online gaming and you can improve connection speeds.

    You will notice good internet speeds on your Starlink connection compared to ADSL and optic fiber. Playing FPS or MMO games may not cause trouble on Starlink, regardless of the connection package you purchased. However, hosting servers or opening ports to connect to external servers can be an issue on Starlink due to CGNAT.

    The easiest way to get around CGNAT and port forward games on Starlink is to use a VPN with a port forwarding add-on.

    I have been gaming with Starlink for 18 months now with no issues, However I am in Australia and there is no congestion here. I live 1200km away from the servers i play on for a ping of 40-45ms and I cant remember the last time within the last year of getting disconnected while playing. Hope this helps

    I’m afraid no one outside the development community has those numbers as they likely differ by game, And it’s likely that a multitude of conditions are examined before posting the disconnected from Xbox live messages
