Starfield will not install - error: 0x80070490

I wanted to pre-install for Starfield, which cannot be passed through Xbox, but I get an article with error code 0x80070490, what should I do, the problem could not be solved, please help

Since we have isolated the issue to be happening to a specific game only and we notice the error code to be showing 0x80070490. We would like to recommend you to try the following steps as this error code is known issue to Starfield:

• I am receiving the error code 0x80070490 when trying to install Starfield on my PC
  
  • To resolve this install error, you’ll need to add a Reg Key Value on your PC. Since this resolution requires running a command prompt, we recommend backing up your files in case the command is improperly inputted. Proceed with caution.
    
  • Open a command prompt as administrator. You can find this by searching for “CMD” in your Windows Start/Search bar and then selecting “Run as administrator”
    
  • Once the Command Prompt is open, enter this text and then press the Enter key:
    
    • reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\StateRepositoryStatus /v AutoCheckIntegrity /t REG_DWORD /d 5
      
  • When the command prompt finishes this task, it will show “The operation completed successfully”
    
  • Restart your PC
    
  • You should no longer see this error when you resume or start your install. If you do continue to see additional errors, you can also try installing and running our Gaming Services Repair Tool with the steps posted on this support page.

Answers below:

1: I am trying to install it from the Xbox App.

2. I play Exoprimal, so no problems with other Xbox games.

3. No problems installing any other games. Just for my sanity, installed Microsoft solitaire collection successfully.

Have tried multiple reboots





Windows up to date

All the latest drivers installed

Updated Xbox app and gaming services multiple times including through PowerShell.

UAC is disabled

I am a local administrator on the PC.

Nothing is working.

  • If an update is available, select Update.
    
  • Launch Xbox app and check at the bottom of the page, if an update is available for Gaming Services.
    
• Sign out your account on Microsoft Store and Xbox app. Make sure you are signed in to Microsoft Store and Xbox app with the same credentials.
  
• (EA App) Close both Xbox app and EA app and relaunch the Xbox app.
  
• Uninstalling and reinstalling Gaming Services.
  
  • Right-click the Start button and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    
  • Type this command one at a time, press enter and wait:
    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

  • Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
    
  • Restart your device and try to install the game again
