game runs fine on minimum, but crashes at random times

Well I was happily playing it on my PC this morning; no Windows/Radeon/Razer or other updates today, but this afternoon it won't load. I've tried "check and repair files", loading different save files etc. but always the same result... crash on load save screen. I guess a complete reinstall is needed, let's just hope my many hours of accumulated skills etc don't get lost in the process! Checked drivers/updates...
